Jalal Al Din Rumi Ascolta la musica dell'anima
Voto:
I've heard about Rumi several times, and I've repeatedly intended to delve deeper into it; of course, I haven't done it yet. Who knows, maybe this will be the right time. Nice review; just one note: fundamentalism, in my opinion, should in no way make the idea of a clash of civilizations plausible: I trust that the maturity and judgment of people can somehow counter this increasingly widespread fear of the "other," this mystification aimed at generating hatred, which is insinuated into us by events or by the way they are narrated.

I will never understand reviews that give a score of 5 and then say that the album has low points, whatever the reason for their being 'low'. And what score do we give to albums without low points? Respectfully.

I avoid expressing judgments about this book, which I haven't read and never will. I can only say that the figure of 65 million deaths from the Maoist regime, as you yourself reported, sounds like bullshit from afar; in the meantime, the authors of the book should explain not only to me but also to all the leading sinologists worldwide how they managed to come up with a precise estimate of the deaths that occurred throughout the entire period in which China was under the regime. Yes, because we're talking about a country that, for decades, was hermetically sealed off, a world apart where even the most sensational events, for better or worse, unfolded in great secrecy. Moreover, probably even the current leaders of the Chinese Communist Party would not be able to account for the deaths caused by their predecessors. And yet, here we are with a figure being thrown out, no less, an outrageous one. I find that at least curious. Don't you?

Morgan, in the Adelphi edition, which is based on the English translation by Arthur Waley, has 30 chapters totaling around 350 pages. The text is not too densely packed :)

Axel, the novel has a quite simple structure, often using colloquial-like expressions, the dialogues are very fluid, and the events unfold with a certain liveliness. I didn't find it to be a particularly obscure read. On the contrary, I would say it's rather engaging.

an extraordinarily engaging novel, both for its writing style and for its historical and sociocultural interest, but also and above all because the protagonist really knows his stuff!!
