Daniele Luttazzi Decameron: poltica, sesso, religione e morte (2007)

It seems clear to me that many people in here no longer know what satire means, nor free information, and on a larger scale, freedom of speech and freedom of the press. But have you seen the French satirical shows? Or the entire satirical newspapers dedicated to mocking Sarkozy? In Sweden, in an advertisement for a private television network, to emphasize the freedom they enjoy and take pride in, they make an explicit comparison with the state of Italian television, and certainly not in a positive light. Not to mention the Freedom House report: WE are not in a free country. End of discussion. By now in this country, people end up having no idea what their own rights as citizens are. They simply look the other way when they have the rot right under their noses. The agony of our democracy is so evident now, right under everyone's noses, that stubbornly denying it and claiming otherwise is almost laughable. But nobody is laughing anymore.

More than a good review, on a program that I didn’t follow at all back then, but that I later rediscovered and reevaluated. Luttazzi is a kind of wild card; it doesn’t surprise me at all that the powers that be always try to sideline him, but I have admired him greatly for the courage he demonstrated by inviting a character like Travaglio onto his already controversial show, giving space to an interview that I recommend everyone check out on YouTube: it was that which detonated the events that followed. The fact is, both Luttazzi and Travaglio were acquitted, with the reasoning that the aforementioned interview reported exclusively true and proven facts; I assure you it’s worth taking a look at, for those who have never seen it. And here too, hats off to Luttazzi, who won a lawsuit against the arrogant billionaire bastard demanding I don’t know how many millions in damages. This is how one learns to act tough with their dirty money.

@senmayan: first of all, I'm sorry if my comment came off as a bit provocative, and I thank you for responding civilly nonetheless. The point is that you seem to focus on the spiritual figure of the Dalai Lama, which in your view is now discredited; regardless of the truth of this statement, I think you overlook a detail, namely that the Dalai Lama is not only a Buddhist master but also, and above all, a head of state in exile, a symbol and the only voice of an oppressed people, and as such, I believe he has significant responsibilities. One should not confuse Buddhism with political and social apathy; in my opinion, the battle the Dalai Lama is fighting is anything but anti-Buddhist: it would be anti-Buddhist to organize a rebel army and spark a civil war; it is not anti-Buddhist to try to make an impact on global public opinion. Of course, it is clear that he often has to deal with people who couldn't care less about Tibet, but I don't think this is a fault that can be attributed to him. Moreover, I believe that in this context, American imperialism doesn't really play much of a role: America, for economic reasons, especially during this crisis period, cannot afford to lift a finger against China, which, after all, does not need anyone to geopolitically discredit it on the international stage, as it has historically managed quite well on its own, and I'm saying this as someone who loves China, studies Chinese, and lives between this state and that one.

I agree with comment number 1. The expressions of anger that Clint reserves even for his family are striking, and the scenes with the Italian-American barber are priceless!
