nice review. when I saw it, I was impressed: good choice of animation, and really tough the final part. really a strong film.

Then notice the obvious contradictions: "...Now: I have nothing to judge about their music..." and then: "...The Muse are no longer a musical band. Free to not believe it. But the fact is that to me they are not. Why? Simple, how can one, especially in the review written here, call an album a "Masterpiece!" that adds nothing, and I mean NOTHING, to what has already been monotonously expressed by previous ones??...". Not to mention the way you attack me by putting words in my mouth that belong to others, a clear sign of total absence of arguments as well as a good dose of "straw man". And what can I say about your tight logic from first grade, "the first hen that crows laid the egg"? Try harder if you really want to show off.

If you didn't get it, the point of my first post was precisely that we should limit ourselves to judging the music, and not make sweeping judgments about those who listen to it. It seemed to me that you were doing the exact opposite.

I don't even know who you are, and I don't care to know. The fact is that you are putting words in my mouth that I didn't say, since I haven't talked about the album or the review. I was simply noting how you, in your first comment, say something that I find completely out of place: you act diplomatic by saying that you don't judge (you use this verb first) the music of Muse, when in reality, that's exactly what should be judged on a music review site, right? (And I’m the one who said that we need to judge music, I've understood and emphasized that point, so don't spout nonsense). And then you go on to give advice in a paternalistic tone (which I find presumptuous and arrogant), like "read more books, you breed of mentally impoverished individuals." That's what I read from your post. The fact that you say anyone can do whatever they want doesn't change the underlying interpretation. Was I wrong? Did I misunderstand? And if so, how should I interpret it otherwise?

@mr.moustache: you are very mistaken: you have everything to judge about their music, while you have absolutely nothing to judge about who listens to it. A little less arrogance would do this world good.

Well, after several listens, I'm ready to give my opinion. This "The Resistance" needs more than a few spins in the stereo to truly take shape in the mind; especially because on first listen it seems a bit too fragmented, due to the variety/discontinuity of genres and sounds presented. The track that grabs me the most right now is "Resistance," which sounds like a good mix of the best things that the band has offered us so far: the drama of "Absolution" and that certain something from "Origin of Symmetry," a mix that is also repeated with good results in "Unnatural Selection." My favorite part of the album is the central section, from tracks 5 to 7: "Guiding Light" in its greater simplicity I find well executed, and I particularly find "MK Ultra" to be quite sharp. The final symphony convinces me up to a certain point; however, I find the visionary and apocalyptic atmosphere of it all to be quite fascinating. The track that convinces me the least, in fact, one that I pretty much detest, is "Undisclosed Desires," with its overused syncopated beat, which, by Bellamy's own admission, winks at modern R'n'B, a genre that I find appalling; all accompanied by lyrics that are probably the most insignificant ever written by Muse. Furthermore, I disagree with what Starbly says about "United States of Eurasia," the Queen-like choir of which I think is decidedly too Queen-like, in the sense that it’s really spot on, but overall the track isn't bad. Final note: the lyrics of the single "Uprising" sound familiar to me from previous albums, see "Showbiz" (the track), "Butterflies & Hurricanes," and other songs that revolve around the same themes. I would give it a 3.5, but I round it up to 4 out of affection. Best regards to the reviewer.

It's been a while now that it's no longer worth listening to them. And in fact, I didn't listen.

The album comes out tomorrow, and I can't hide a certain annoyance for reviews that come out before the album. So I'm not reading it. @hardrock92: do you think showbiz is better than origin of symmetry and absolution? I find that quite absurd, in more or less every aspect. Then again, de gustibus non est disputandum.
