Donjuno, you’re probably right: I may have been wrong to take that phrase because on its own it seems meaningless; it’s the context of the song that I found interesting. Mea culpa. Jovanotti also uses ungrammatical phrases, but that’s how he has built a legion of fans. You know very well that you don’t have to be De Andrè or Mogol to write a direct and communicative text. I may be foolish as claimed by you for this review, but for example, some "ermetic" lyrics by De Gregori still leave me perplexed. I agree with you on the gossip and similar nonsense: they have only tarnished his image, which now seems insignificant from an artistic standpoint. I hope I have made myself clear once and for all. I feel like I've explained why I'm passionate about Ryan Adams: I've highlighted the character (who you might find annoying, but I absolutely love), and I've talked about the songs and the arrangements.
