The Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

To claim it is the greatest may be utopian, but to say it is the cornerstone of modern music is not. Self-congratulatory goat streams, and otherwise I notice the usual snobbery of those who want to rebel against history...

Defining "these guys" as U2 seems like a big nonsense to me. Anyway, see you next time.

If my mind weren't open, I wouldn't have spent money to buy "Violator" and wasted time watching their live show. If you can explain to me why what U2 does is "just pop songs," I would be very grateful. Maybe because they are not harmonically intricate like those of the Beatles?? Have you ever tried to listen to the melodic line of Bono's voice?? It's truly unmatched. Only Lennon and McCartney did things of that level. Edge?? He invented a style that has been copied by all the emerging bands today. Bono's lyrics?? Wonderful, they manage to be beautiful even in the less successful works, with biblical, historical, literary, and psychological references. Regarding the shows: I wasn't strictly referring to the scenic aspect, which, as you say, anyone can do with a nice chunk of money. I was mainly referring to the audio-video combination: splendid. Many brilliant ideas accompany the shows... And you can't tell me that U2's performances lack substance: that's also what underpins the band's success. In "Rattle and Hum," you can't help but be fascinated and moved by the introduction to "Sunday Bloody Sunday" or "Silver and Gold." But please, explain to me why you think certain things.

Well, you should see them instead because U2 are unbeatable when it comes to live shows. I've tried to see many other things, only Pink Floyd put on such colossal and content-rich performances. There’s been a lot of talk about the Depeche Mode tour, but after seeing their Live in Milan, I was struck by a wave of sadness... Open yur mind...

What you put on yourself. Have you seen the DVD?? Or do you only respond in syllables...bah, boh, buh. If you haven't seen it, your opinion doesn't count.

I don't understand why many people talk, but few say anything sensible about this concert and this tour. I regret every day not having attended the Zoo TV Tour, dubbed by some as "the Absolute in the history of rock." The Live in Sydney is extraordinary; Bono and Co. manage to be genuine even in the midst of fiction and glitz. You remain with your mouth agape for over 2 hours. The bonus disc is also entertaining, featuring an underrated "Tryin' to throw your arms around the world" (censored in the original footage because a minor came on stage drinking the champagne offered to her by Bono). A smooth and correct review, but perhaps a bit cold. If I had just finished my exams, I would undoubtedly have written it, perhaps highlighting some details. U2 at the top of their game (but they had been for 12 years already). Stunning.
David Fincher Fight Club
Voto:
Very well-written review, but you could have said much more about the film and the feelings it provoked. My rating would be 5 or 5.5, but I'm forced to round up. I agree with Poletti, although he has been excessively drastic (as usual). The film disappointed me, but specifically at the level of the screenplay. I found everything to be so over the top, the usual moralizing phrases, and yet another cinematic alter ego. In short, everything felt very trite, and then the invention of the Fight Club I found really awful. But here, the only fault of Fincher is that he wanted (or had to?) to portray a weak, bland, and banal plot on screen.

For me too, "Achtung Baby" remains unbeatable... One of the albums of the decade (better not to go beyond that, or you'll lynch me...)

Well, the other day I was listening to Pregherei on the radio and I have to say it was a great piece.
