Incubus Make Yourself

a nice discussion, different viewpoints, but frankly for me S.C.I.E.N.C.E.=5; Make Yourself=5; and it won’t be your opinions that change my mind, just as my opinions won’t change yours...great album, with a stellar "Pardon Me", and the magnificent "I Miss You", "The Warmith", "Stellar"...
Edoardo Bennato Burattino senza fili

In these years of darkness, I have often wondered what had become of Bennato, and frankly, I have never managed to find him, to the point of doubting that he could have written this album... even doubting that he possessed that right irony, that far-sighted gaze, the very ability to conceive this "masterpiece"... I apologize to Bennato... but, truly, I don’t know how he could have completely lost the shine of his best years...

I read online that the song "would be" dedicated to his partner who passed away in a car accident... anyway, I found 4 versions of "the lee shore" online, one of which I would have sworn was from the studio... but I can't seem to find it on any album...

donjunio, I read the one on "rust never sleeps," but I can't find anything about Buffalo in your list of reviews... I would be interested in learning more about Crosby, about the song "The Lee Shore," which by the way is my favorite by CSN, the version on "4 way street" gives me chills, it has touched my soul...

Of course, Genesis with Gabriel, but also some albums with Collins are not bad; certainly, they can't be compared to the Gabriel era... Have you listened to a masterpiece by Yes, "Close to the Edge"? I hope that besides listening to it, you have also loved it... I also recommend "The Yes Album" (of which I wrote a review :) ) and "Fragile," and why not, also "Going For The One," which contains the splendid "Awaken"...

Dear BeatBoy, I understand your enthusiasm... I will listen to the album carefully, and just as I have forgiven Genesis (up to Abacab for the sole title track, beyond that I couldn't), Yes, and many great bands in their so-called "second manner" phase, I will forgive ELP as well :)...

Beautiful review, complemented by Lucabbrasi's insightful contribution... an outstanding album, innovative, I'd say "the vanguard of the vanguards," unique sounds... Copeland is unbeatable...

No matter how much you try to hold me back, I can't help but say that THIS is AMONG THE UGLIEST COVERS I'VE EVER SEEN... that said, I must tell you that your lovely words will compel me to listen to this album... it may not be "Tarkus," it may not be "Trilogy," but I'm expecting great things... SurferKangoroo, unfortunately, ELP gives a bit of the impression you had, but with a bit of attention, you can find in their production pieces with beautiful "melodies," and not just technicalities for their own sake...

Um...well...here it is... the subsequent production, it's not that it particularly excited me... I would say that with the first 4 albums (live) included, they expressed the max...

doniunio, I find your point of view interesting, and as they say, tastes are subjective... however, while it’s true that the atmosphere of the early 70s is no longer present, it’s also true that this album does not resemble its two predecessors at all; on the contrary, it distances itself from them through a more "arranged" approach (understood as a focus on the arrangements)... the previous albums, certainly more genuine and direct, are "fabulous," but I’ve learned, practically from all the greats, that after the "creative magic" of the beginnings, there often follows a decline, unless one ventures down other paths...
