Borknagar Origin

Hey, I wanted to reread this review (which I read when it was published), after deepening my understanding of the album, I find it amazing. I got to know it thanks to your recommendation... However, I tried listening to more from Borknagar, and they're too "hard" for me, and above all, I don't like Growl vocals, except in very rare cases like in the album "Wildhoney" by Tiamat... In short, if you feel like it, I would gladly accept recommendations in this genre, but with a lot of Clean and little Growl. Of course, it's hard to find albums as inspired as this one... Would you be willing to help me discover this genre, but only the more melodic and orchestral side? Maybe I'm just confused, but another example of an album I really liked (even though I still find the Growl vocals too overwhelming in it) is "Anomia" by Bokor...

biork, if you want to feel bad, really bad, be my guest... but is it worth it... the fact that in one way or another it brings your mind back to "A Clockwork Orange" must mean something, right?...

I liked the review... I don't think you can talk about this film without going through its plot... because here the storyline truly matters... the amazing thing is that the violence is understood only in terms of its "consequences"... which are, in the end, the consequences that have impacted each person's life... the bourgeois family may be unpleasant, and she is indeed unbearable, but I don't think we reach the point of rooting for "gratuitous" violence... the film hurts, never leaves the viewer at peace, and it becomes clear right away that there is no hope... despite the almost initial scene of the knife on the boat, which might suggest future revenge or the possibility of a comeback... it will only be a hope, soon contradicted by the facts...

I'm listening to them now... exceptional, really... the voice sounds interesting to me... and the melodies, quite successful... the lyrics, less banal than other Italian progressive bands...

Sorry, I didn't see them live... but today even U2 seem pathetic compared to those from over 20 years ago... I don't understand what went wrong in this concert, but I don't doubt your impressions... as for the comparison with other American bands, frankly aside from the often unfortunate need to lump together different bands, I say that Kansas and Styx are very different from the groups mentioned above, if only for the constant presence of the violin for Kansas and the brass for Styx. These two groups have country and maybe even folk influences, whereas I find that Journey (great), Boston, and Foreigner are essentially more purists of AOR...

In 2005, did you see both Styx and Kansas? Wow, what a score... I think these bands have had their time, I mean they've aged... frankly, I love both Styx and Kansas... Styx is less progressive (if we can even talk about progressive)... both bands have written songs of a certain level...

Great review... I’ve been waiting for it for a long time, it’s an album I loved a lot when it came out, a very underrated band, in my opinion... I really liked the approach of reliving the album as it was conceived, through the story of the theater... for me "Snowblind" above all... I could easily give this work a 4.5, "rock," though filled with "piano and brass"... if you’re looking for quality rock, give this record a chance, it’s unlikely to disappoint you... I almost forgot, the cover, with the depiction of the splendor of the inauguration and the ruins before the demolition, has always fascinated me... after all, it was said back then that the events of cinema were taken as a pretext to tell "the end of the American dream"... the decline of that society... with hindsight, though, I feel I can say that, in the end, the American dream has failed, but the capitalist society has proven to be by far the most long-lasting, and alas, the only possible one...
