Damn, the Devics on Debaser. One of my most personal bands, truly mine. There are a few inaccuracies in your review: the Devics have not released 3 albums. The last 3 albums are 3, but that doesn't mean they only have 3. The wonderful “If you forget me…” is from '98. “Buxom” is from '96, when only 10 people were buying their music (they said so themselves), Sara was very young and even more beautiful, and I didn't even know they existed. The cover of Buxom is truly beautiful. “If you forget me” is the last album from the semi-underground period, the turning point is the e.p. “The ghost in the girl,” a thing I have never managed to find, damn it. The cover is nice too (all beautiful, gorgeous like the content). So, let's say: it’s the year 2001, and the Devics want to rise from misery and create “My beautiful sinking ship,” in my opinion one of the most beautiful works of the millennium, a record of the highest caliber. After a couple of years, “The Stars at St. Andrea” is released, more electronic, warmer, less talented but more homogeneous. Still an excellent work. The last album you review is slightly better and retrieves some of the atmospheres from “My beautiful...” without really matching it, but the impression since 2001 was that matching it would never be possible.
