Well, usually in music I'm the first to say that an album is either good or it isn't: meaning I don’t have any blinders of any kind... For example, I like Selling England by the Genesis as much as I like the first album by the Stone Roses... My point wasn’t a criticism of anyone; everyone thinks the way they want, there's no problem... I just believe it's wrong to distinguish between films: it's like saying in literature that Petrarch is light years away from Boccaccio: that's not true, they are different but equally beautiful and important... To conclude, let's not distinguish between "low" and "high" art. Mediterraneo is a great film, and in my opinion, it deserves a 5. The thing to do is to just experience something in a certain moment, whether it's a record or a movie, without thinking about anything else or making connections, and ask: so, is this film good or not?

Why have all these technical-directorial discussions? A film is either good or it isn’t, whether it’s shot masterfully like Kubrick or whether it’s pleasant and well-made: 5 for 2001: A Space Odyssey, it’s a 5 for this.
Quentin Tarantino Pulp Fiction

I understand that Tarantino is either liked or disliked; I’m in the first camp. At times too polished or cool, I can concede that, but he still wrote one of the contemporary peaks of cinema with Pulp Fiction. Yes, yes, yes.

PULP. 1 a mass of soft, shapeless, and almost liquid material. 2 a book or magazine that contains sensational stories of sex and violence, usually printed on low-quality paper.
