Slipknot 5: the gray chapter
Voto:
Soon the reviews will come out even before the leaks. Anyhow, aside from the two singles, I’ve only listened to another 2-3 songs (XIX, AOV, and Killpop) and, to be honest, I didn’t mind them at all. It's worth mentioning that I’m one of the few, maybe the only one, who prefers Slipknot in these more melodic inclinations. For someone like me, this Vol. 5 could be the right compromise between the band's original aggressive sound and the more radio-friendly style of Stone Sour. I will definitely listen to it.

My absolute favorite band :D and this is also my favorite album of theirs, far from being pandering (listen to Happiness By The Kilowatt to believe it). Generally, they haven’t seemed to ride the wave of any trend. With the album in question, they immediately wanted to distance themselves from any self-serving generalization. Oh, and Crisis is also of the highest level. I believe that in a poll, fans voted it as the best album in their discography. A somewhat hasty review, but it gets the point across anyway. 5 for the album because you can't give more, and 5 to you just for bringing an Alexisonfire album back into the spotlight.

I can't say whether this is my favorite album, but it's definitely the one I've listened to and still listen to the most. In any case, for me, Korn made great things up until this Issues, after which there was at least listenable stuff until Take A Look In The Mirror. After that, it was all emptiness. See You On The Other Side (which I got in a beautiful limited edition) was horrendous, and I prefer to pretend the rest doesn't exist, with the lowest point being reached with The Path of Totality (that abortion of a dubstep/brostep disc).

It's his most immediate and "simple" work, but that doesn't make it bad. Perhaps more was expected from Aphex Twin, something that had an entirely new flavor and would surprise, but let's just say that, at least for me, this is fine as well. Syro remains a concentrated blend of art and electronic (and not only) technique, musical and decidedly enjoyable.

5 for the reference to The Last of Us. 5 for the album because I also think—I'm not saying it’s the best in their discography—but certainly one of the best.

This band has also been over for me for a while, what a shame. Boring albums.
The Hotelier Home, Like Noplace Is There

I was missing a record like this brand new one. Yeah, okay, as ZeroKanada says, the proposal is becoming saturated but more choice also means more quality, in my opinion. Regarding Like Noplace Is There, I believe it's the first time I consider an album to be overly personal. I mean, I might feel embarrassed for him while hearing it live, let alone if I ever had to sing it. Your Deep Rest is wonderful; I die a little inside every time I listen to it. Oh, it’s now established that albums with American record labels on the cover are the most beautiful.

So, I’ve been listening closely these days. For now, it hasn’t quite grabbed me enough, Sometimes by Dallas Green (City and Colour) is from another planet. Lyrically and conceptually, I really like it though. I’ll definitely give it more chances in the coming days. Albums like these I need to absorb little by little.
PS: but you made me discover the Hotelier, which I'm going to comment on now :D

Great album and nice review, well done. Personally, I prefer them now with Wade on vocals. But hey, I’m not the one to judge (just listen/watch Chains), I’m an Alexisonfire fanboy >:D

I was curious also because the individual tracks inspired me quite a bit. In fact, I got halfway through the album—specifically, to Sudden Life—and I couldn't take it anymore. Maybe I'll (re)listen to it later; right now, I've got other things on my mind.
