David Gilmour On an Island
Voto:
If a year ago in my review I had given it a passing grade, almost out of a concealed reverential fear, now I can say it: an introspective, flat, predictable, boring, pretentious, and soporific album. A work devised more for narcissistic (and sentimental) self-celebration than anything else. Beyond the production, there are very few ideas; the fact that the name might have compensated for this is another story, but the album itself, even when compared to About Face (which I consider to be the most "musical" of our Gilmour), pales significantly. The only reason that pushed me to listen to it 4 or 5 times in a year was listening to the first two tracks and take a breath, which are decent songs... but the rest is just boredom... mortal boredom. Gilmour is more liked than his music...!!!!!

Among other things, they aren’t even English. It should be noted that if it had been released under the name of another band, regulars of the techno genre, it would have received a very different reception. This album should be considered in relative terms; for those who like Depeche Mode, this album needs a significant reevaluation, but if it is logically compared as a product of a gothic band, then obviously one can only agree with "colleague" Fidia. Hence the rating...

Hateful group and an even more hateful trend. However, for those who were born with the Beatles, one cannot give in to objectivity and consider this a great album of "light" contemporary music.

At this link, there is a review of the same album, with very similar content.... well..... It's clear that one of the authors was heavily inspired by the other....!!!

"There are no longer the great bands of the past." This and other colossal naivetés make your review almost comical... However, the writing is honest.. it says what it needs to say without too much embellishment.. But the opening, forgive me, is really very adolescent...

Chilling and claustrophobic. An icon of the enduring evil of daily life.

I have already clarified the dispute privately with my friend uxo.... And anyway, if we really want to be precise, from my intervention it's clear that your father is actually very little involved, as my satire is well directed at you...!!! In any case, no hard feelings.

"a new masterpiece of neoclassical symphonic metal." Hyperbolic; it seems to me that it really adds little to the great melting pot of gothic with death/melodic undertones featuring female vocals. A good album with very good moments, but nothing more than a drop in the vast ocean.
