In fact, gaming is not art by definition. Because the best game is not (or shouldn’t be) the one that is technically groundbreaking, but the one with the best gameplay, and many of us (myself included) remember certain video games precisely for their graphics and sound, which are essentially technical rather than gameplay aspects. It’s a contradictory attitude, I know. Even when talking about the storyline of a Final Fantasy, how can you judge the absolute value of a game based on the story alone? A similar criterion wouldn’t even be valid for films, so think about it for a game! Moreover, the grand technical development in video games over the last 20 years, and the lack of parallel growth in gameplay (always the same tune, except for rare objective innovations) says a lot about why today we are inclined to play Crysis rather than the original Quake...

For example, Metal Gear Solid 2 was a movie that every now and then enjoyed letting you play, with a plot that had too many twists and turns... I can already taste the review :-D

Silent Hill as a film adapted from the game wasn't bad; it captured the atmosphere faithfully... as a film on its own, well...

Oh my God, between Velouria and Alison and any two from Farm, it seems to me that the choice can only fall on the former, even if not at the level of Surfer Rosa and Doolittle.

Better than Farm, Without A Sound, and Hand It Over are definitely... and they came out when the Pixies were still the Pixies, a few years after the release of Surfer Rosa and Doolittle, and then Pixies is a brand because it's an institution like Dinosaur Jr and Sonic Youth, it seems obvious to me.

Anyway, I read that it was actually Kim Deal who said no to a new Pixies album; Black Francis was all set for the idea.
