JACK DANIEL'S, I’ve referred to myself as a wretched nobody because I know I am one, and I know that the alternatives are the prerogative of other hundreds and hundreds of users on Deb, in Italy and around the world, and before I was even born, the namesake of Suicide was already history, for example. However, the issue is another: it doesn’t take a degree in musical semiotics to grasp the content and communicative poverty of Who Wants, its sickly ballad structure based on overused and successful templates for the masses. Yet you don’t get it. This raises certain doubts about your listening habits. Nobody taught me anything, yet if I listen to A Kind Of Magic first and then Evol (which you admit to knowing), the difference in attitude is immediately perceptible, the sophistication of the personnel in the latter, the creative and message stagnation in the former, leading to the resorting to classic tricks to tug at the emotions of the unsuspecting listener, such as ridiculously flashy guitar solos, syrupy vocal lines or forced depending on the register used (while recognizing Freddie’s beautiful voice), arrangements of pure color and no flavor, and the use of barely palatable choirs. May was also an original guitarist in the '70s, with his amusing use of harmonizers and the construction of his Red Special (just think of the funny and parodistic Lazy on the Sunday Afternoon), but by the '80s he was already well past it, playing to make a buck. Finally, I also appreciate some chart-topping or more well-known products, so keep your tale of the faux-alternative for someone else.

Why don’t you reread post no. 40 by D Darko, take a look at who started with the whole “if... then you understand nothing about” story? JACK DANIEL'S: do we really need to explain to you why Who Wants To Live Forever is cheesy and drenched in theatrical rhetoric? I mean, come on, do we really need two random idiots like Lux and Larrok to explain it? I can understand, I don’t know, that it might divide the last of the Animal Collective or Mirrored by Battles... I understand both those who appreciate them and those who are more hesitant in front of them. But a piece of crap like Who Wants, with its discount pathos and dishonorably pompous... It’s in front of similar questions that one starts to think that maybe we need a few more listens.

Percy... 32 years old, you've been part of various groups, you sang all kinds of stuff for years... then you come here, staunchly defend Kind of Magic and annoy those who rightly find this album laughable. So I wonder: wouldn’t it have been better if, years ago, you’d taken up sewing instead? :-P

We are makeshift pseudo-critics, but you're a certified incompetent though :-D

Jack Daniel's talking about ignorance, wow, what intellectual degeneration. The "parameters," as subjective as they may be, would still exist, you know, but this time I won't suggest them to you, I'm really tired of it... at most, I can advise you to listen to as much stuff as possible and to understand it, because as far as I'm concerned, if you keep asking us why AKOF would be an ugly album and you can't see the reason yourself, any attempt on my part would come off as pretentious. That said, for clarifications, turn to the more patient Larrok, I’m no longer of the right age :-)

Percy: yes, from now on I'll move on to outright insults, I'm changing strategy, because you've been throwing me those fucking jabs and trying to belittle my ideas. Know that what makes you burst out laughing is known only to the eternal father, and rather than starting pseudo-discourses about the so-called attitudinal expressiveness in rock (which, given how thick-headed you are, you wouldn't even attempt to understand), I suggest you just stop writing bullshit about this review and start broadening your musical horizons by listening to something other than those 10 famous or super-famous bands/artists that even my uncle knows. Maybe you'll come to realize why A Kind Of Magic isn't exactly an essential work.

Percy, you don't understand a damn thing, that's the real issue. I've grouped this big crap with that other big crap for sure... shit is shit, you look at the name, I look at the results. Moreover, I certainly didn't compare the career of Queen to that of Povia; I responded by stating that EVEN Povia's pigeon is crap, JUST LIKE A Kind Of Magic. Then I leave you the freedom to choose which crap smells better.

I find it pointless to continue the discussion, especially since I'm talking to people who don’t understand, and that saddens me a lot. Percy comes to tell me about all the Queen fan colleagues, as if that proves something in concrete terms (the list could be even longer, but frankly, I'm not interested given the conversation we started). JACK DANIEL'S comes out with the usual ultra-relativistic and content-free comment, a response that could be given by someone interviewed on the street by TG 4 to the question, "What do you think of Eros Ramazzotti's latest release?" The response: "Well, I think the artistic value depends primarily on what it can convey, and what it can convey changes from person to person." Therefore, what is beautiful is not what is beautiful, but what is beautiful is what pleases, so there are no more mid-seasons, and slow and steady wins the race. Sorry, I'm a bit tired, so here you go: A Kind Of Magic is a great album from a great movie, very rock but also with some truly moving and epic pieces, then May plays certain solos like Gimmie the Prize and Princes of the Universe that are really too rock, too cool, then Mercury with his incredible voice when he sings "and we can have foreveeeeeeeer... forever is our todaaay," then Friends will be Friends, my dad sings it too, so Queen is amazing because they appeal to everyone.
