Bon Jovi Keep The Faith

For what you said, I agree with you. However, I also talked about other things that have always escaped you. The evolution of Stipe's lyrics, from nonsense to political to enigmatic, evocative, rich in diverse elements. So much so that a true and proper cult has developed around the words of the songs. The search for independence and the construction of a credibility based on six albums with an independent label before moving to a major. Having been a cult band of the '80s "alternative" scene, effectively transforming Athens from a simple college town into a new American musical hub. The moral rigor of always doing only what they wanted or thought was right, even going against record labels and risking failure. Not going on tour after their biggest success (Out of Time). Complete control over their own image, providing multiple cues for different interpretations of the videos, the songs, creating an interest beyond the "nice song" or the units sold. Continuously playing with the condition of a rockstar, desacralizing it and living it without hypocrisy but with taste and irony. Bon Jovi sings very well, the band plays well, they make catchy songs, and they have sold millions of records. But it doesn't seem to me that they have created a true phenomenon or cult like R.E.M.; just look around, go read, inform yourself.

A friend of mine is a student of Maurizio Colonna and organized the concert near Salerno that took place this summer with Gambale. Yes, I'm bragging, I didn't know what to say. I will listen.

what a lovely discussion... when I criticized the latest Waters, I was crucified... I think the judgment on his production will always live in this double perspective, pre dark side, post dark side. I appreciate both, perhaps I feel closer to the latter (also due to a certain listening laziness). Let's say the "hardcore purist" chooses the first side and shuns (more or less) the second, the "popular" fan thinks the first is fascinating and the peak is the second (as is the general, popular judgment). I would actually divide Waters' production into three parts: 1 from saucerful to obscured by clouds 2 from dark side to the wall 3 from final cut to ca ira. then, of course, I got more than a little excited when I saw him at the forum and could hear the classics of Pink Floyd live, while still leaving aside the fact that it represented a turnaround and a decline in style compared to Waters’ proud solo struggle to emancipate himself from Pink Floyd as a "creature in itself." but I experienced that event as a fan, I paid attention to the emotional aspect, just like live 8, which was also linked to a very personal fact. I can also understand that "culturally" and "artistically," in terms of originality, the first side carries more weight, while the second has more weight in popularity, historical significance, tied to success, to the event, to the image, and heavily to Waters’ figure and his obsessions. To this, it should be added that tastes are tastes, and anyway Waters, as Caz says, still has at least 10 years of free devotion left. and I pay my tribute.

Well, Norma, I don't insult indirectly... I make fun of people, it's different. And it can all end in cheerfulness and irony if one isn't too sensitive. What you do are insults, and that's quite different... because while making jokes requires a minimum of taste and intelligence, insulting doesn’t even take thought; you just have to say "stupid, fool, idiot, jerk," and so on. Then surely you could also say that I "indirectly" implied that you (since you insult) aren't intelligent. See it how you will, I just made a distinction. Anyway, here we're always talking more about manners than reasons, and that shows dialogue isn't possible. So the only thing I can say is hi to Giorgio, who will surely show up below. ;o)

unfortunately we are discussing a Bon Jovi - R.E.M. comparison... it's sad but it's true. I know I'm right Giorgio ;o)

I have to say... he is a crazy guy and I'm glad about it, 62 years old and still eager to take on projects like this... I wish he were my grandfather. Reevaluated.

just ask easycure for example. damn, he has already expressed his opinion. look at the reviews of bon jovi, the disgusted comments just for their presence on debaser are plentiful, for the rem it doesn't seem that way; in fact, often knowledgeable people speak and make well-considered points. it's not that hard to realize, maybe you just don't want to discover that I'm right. to say they are on the same level. come on ;o)

I didn't mean to say that Portnoy is a dog at playing because he has that drum kit; that would be a real idiocy. I’ve never denied that Portnoy is a technically phenomenal drummer, I just said that I prefer a less showy style, let’s say. In short, one can be an exceptional drummer without all the frills and perhaps even more effective. I hope I’ve clarified. I know Liquid Tension Experiment and also Aenima by Tool. As for Opthet, no. Downloading. Bye ;o)

Giorgio, definitely not with you... also because you are only capable of insulting and not of holding a counter-argument. As for you, Robi, you have now chosen to respond in the same way every time, saying that I don’t say anything sensible and that I don’t express my opinions, while with others you’ve always gotten along just fine. I could also tell you that in a thousand other posts I’ve had interesting discussions with other users and blah blah blah like you do, but what’s the point? It seems to me that you always feel the need to prove your civility and your innocence by bringing examples and whatnot... there’s no need, I never thought you were an idiot. Maybe just touchy. I certainly never expected you to ally with Giorgio. For me, the discussion can easily end here, no worries. You're happy, everyone’s happy. Bye ;o)
