Pink Floyd The Wall

I don’t want to be an asshole, but with the same number of words you used to say it’s impossible to do justice to this album with words, and with the space taken up by the lyrics, you could have written a nice, sensible review that didn’t give the impression of "now I’m serving you the usual stereotype of the album that can’t miss in your record collection." Anyway, don’t worry, the mess made with the review of THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON is still the worst.

I REALLY WISH THAT FOR ONCE A REVIEW OF A pINK fLOYD ALBUM WOULD BE DONE PROPERLY. THIS TIME THEY EVEN CITED THE LYRICS. IS THAT IT? YOU MIGHT AS WELL JUST SEND US THE MONEY TO GO BUY IT, SINCE WHAT HAVE YOU REALLY TOLD US THAT'S NEW?

I REPEAT: IF EASYCURE DOESN'T LIKE THESE ALBUMS, WHY DOES HE ALWAYS HAVE TO COME AND BREAK MY BALLS?
Pink Floyd The Final Cut

Anyway, I really like the album; it's among my favorites, but that's a very personal judgment based on my taste, as I'm emotionally and affectionately attached to this album. I adore it, but I understand those who criticize it or don't appreciate it. As a Pink Floyd CD, it is unusual and outside the norms; as a Waters CD and in terms of lyrics, it is superb.

Guys, let's leave Barrett behind once and for all. An artist who made only one album (the piper at the gates of dawn) and 2 solo ones, accompanied like a child by the arrangements and production of Waters & Gilmour. Great as you want, but he's judged on just one album. Too easy to be brilliant once and then disappear. That said, I don’t mean to undermine the value of his productions; quite the opposite.
Anyway, as usual, people try to review Pink Floyd, and either they don’t listen to the album carefully, or they don’t read biographies and interviews properly. This album has absolutely nothing of the Pink Floyd sound. As someone has already pointed out, the band was not complete (Wright was kicked out by Waters after the release of THE WALL). It's not that the relationships were strained; there were virtually none between Waters and the others. The album was written, conceived, arranged, and produced by Waters and outside people. Gilmour and Mason just played the little they had to play, the rest is orchestra and Waters. Gilmour stands out only for his always-effective solos and for his singing in NOT NOW JOHN. Mason only suggested the idea of revisiting the theme of "Maggie what have you done" throughout the album, and in one track (two suns in the sunset), he didn't even play the drums (as had already happened in MOTHER). It’s not that music transcends all barriers of man; simply, this is Waters' first real solo album, the name PINK FLOYD is just a lure. It's no coincidence that on the back it reads "THE FINAL CUT a requiem for the post war dream" by Roger Waters, performed by PINK FLOYD.

But easycure specifically goes looking for all the Floyd reviews just to criticize the albums post Meddle? Don't you have anything better to do?

These are Queen. At the height of their greatness. Then you may like them or not. And as I've repeated in other comments, just because I love Queen doesn't mean I think they are perfect or that I don't recognize their flaws along with their merits. There's no need to be extreme in our judgments, and let's stop behaving like kindergarten kids: "I hate it," "awesome!", "they suck." I hate laxatives, not a CD.

Then, honestly, I almost always agree with the idea that millions of copies sold correspond to a product quality that is inversely proportional. Then there are happy exceptions, like THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON. For once, I would like some measured and competent comments on the reviews, without falling into the “IT SUCKS, THEY ARE THE BEST” etc., like kindergarten kids. And I repeat, if someone wants to write a review, damn it, they should listen to the album and do their homework properly, or have someone else do it.

Simply put, in this album, Pink Floyd found the right balance between commercial and "alternative" in the broadest sense of the term. For me, alternative nowadays doesn’t mean a damn thing. I adore Pink Floyd, but I'm not so narrow-minded as to overlook their flaws alongside their strengths. Among all the various concepts of Pink Floyd, this is the most solid in terms of lyrics and music; it has a good balance, beautiful pieces, great lyrics, excellent atmospheres, superb arrangements, and fantastic ideas. As I always assert in any discussions, saying a band is great doesn’t require saying others are worse, or vice versa. I have never liked extreme comparisons, like those between political parties or football teams, when applied to music groups. The Floyd have often expressed their views about the so-called "psychedelic" period, and it's clear that after Barrett left, they started to drift aimlessly, waiting for the right idea. Genius, according to easycure, lies in a track that is more experimental, fun, and irregular. I believe that’s often where the lack of ideas resides. It’s easy to hide behind experimentation when, in reality, ideas are lacking. Indeed, in the previous albums, they almost always wrote a suite, and then each one would contribute a different piece. By reading biographies, you can see what they think of that period. Could Pink Floyd really have continued down that path? I doubt it. They changed, as was right and natural for them to do. I prefer experimentation in WISH YOU WERE HERE. In short, I don’t like extremism at all.

The review is lacking, starting from the nonsense about Money (the lyrics wouldn't be important to the Floyd? But Gilmour said that in this album, the music was just a vehicle for the lyrics!!!). Gilmour would be the other guitarist NOT well-loved by fans... but come on!!! Of all the things you said, you chose the nonsense... sorry if I'm getting worked up, but if you don't know Pink Floyd or don't really know them well, you can't afford to review this album. You said the most trivial things in the world (an album where just the cover is worth the purchase?? Come on, seriously!!!) and the outrageous nonsense: Us and Them annoyingly boring at the start, a female choir in The Great Gig when it's Clare Torry who absolutely kills it, couldn't it have had a better start with Speak To Me Breathe? what does that even mean??? Failing on all fronts. You can find less trivial reviews in the more inexperienced national newspapers... and then you can't not mention that it's the first concept album by Pink Floyd, the first where Waters writes all the lyrics, explain what it's about... come on, put a little effort into it... otherwise, review something else... sorry for getting so worked up, but you really missed the mark...
