Marvin Pontiac (John Lurie) The Legendary Marvin Pontiac Greatest Hits

...hello Paolo.
It's Mauri... look a bit... tonight I unexpectedly find myself for the second time in the pages of one of your reviews.
Today, after finishing work, while driving back home, I was listening to the radio and was literally blown away by a couple of tracks from Marvin Pontiac. As the music played, a voiceover gave brief insights into this author's bio-mystery. Now, after a bit of Googling, I ended up on a review in deB and guess who it's by?? Paolo... and I was the one who considered you a debutante in deB?!?! Tzè! :(
Anyway, I heard two tracks on the radio and a handful of samples and I will definitely get the album. A mix of what I could hear of Waits and Bk with a jazzy-lounge electro twist and damn bluesy.
I'm buying it!! Haloa

OPS a major mistake. I apologize, you are quite familiar with Deb, it’s just that with the hyper-fast and often chaotic pace of Debaser there are 20,000 new users every day and I thought you were a new... anyway... great review. Were you at Ben's concert on 15/10?

Hi Paolo, this is Mauri. Welcome to Deb and congratulations on the review.
On the 15th, I saw Ben Harper in Milan and I really enjoyed having Piers Faccini as the opener. I was blown away. I completely share your review, which, by the way, I agree with on many points.
Unfortunately, I don’t have the album yet, but right from the night of the concert, I promised myself to download something from this artist.
I was impressed by his voice and at certain moments in some songs, musically, he made me imagine an acid-infused Jeff Buckley with the Doors. Do you think that comparison works?!?
Then yes... he pays tribute to Mr. Harper, but he gives ample demonstrations of his talent. Great proposal, and after reading your review, I’ll definitely look for the album.

Hello Portofolio... I've been reevaluating electronic music for quite a while now and I'm really enjoying it... keep looking and you'll find some great records.
As for the Chemical Bros, this is probably my least favorite of theirs, although I admit I know it only in parts... get your hands on Dig Your Own Hole and then come back with a comment :)
Cheers...

nooooo damn. I was preparing it, you beat me to it on time.
Well, anyway... excellent album that anticipated styles and trends in English pop-rock more than a decade later. An underrated group but of excellent quality, and this album is proof of that. They were among the first in Europe to mix Caribbean-Jamaican sounds with the impact of English rock. Moreover, they gave rise to a true movement called Two-Tone, which featured the likes of Specials, Selecter, and The Beat. Personally, I would have avoided discussing technique, because ska is notoriously not very technical... I would have focused more on the impact it had at the time and on what emerged later, like the Lambrettas (as you mentioned) and the birth of the first Mods.
The album is still, if I'm not mistaken, one of those (if not the one) that stayed the longest at number one on the UK charts...
For me, it’s an album I recommend.

Smasher, I think like you.
Now I’m going to print this post of yours and put it between the reflections of the Dalai Lama and those of Bukowski! Pìs
