But why do those who appreciate Elio typically shovel shit on everything else in the absurd? I don't love the Gem Boys, but I wouldn't keep making comparisons.

Cute, but nothing compared to Drum and Wires or English Settlement. Um, for the Beatles to be the XTC, they would first have had to learn to play like the XTC, and I'm not sure there's a conservatory well-equipped enough for that :)

I was responding to the comment above mine, not to you. I gave you a 4, so clearly I agree, right? :)
CCCP - Fedeli alla linea 1964-1985. Affinità-divergenze fra il compagno Togliatti e noi...

I may be wrong, but to me, Caz, you have a very warped idea of punk. Tastes – clearly – are not up for debate, but the equivalent of your argument would be "progressive is an extremism of rock, maybe important, I just look at the practical side, and 20-minute solos don't work for me," which is objectively nonsense. The Ramones didn't make any revolution; they aren't even stylistically a punk band for me; their sound is fast-paced surf + the attitude of American "junkies." Anyway, at the time, the CCCP were certainly not equivalent to the current CSI; they weren't "party music," their music contained many nuances definitely outside of Communist thought. I think you were misled by the cover, title, and name of the band (intentionally biased), because the merits of the album are, in my opinion, objective (not the beauty of the album, mind you): they, like the very first Litfiba, reinterpreted post-punk and wave in an Italian key – in my view wonderfully, in yours mediocre, but it doesn't matter, I don't have to "sell" anything. Then the CSI are another matter, but be careful before talking about the commercial aspects of the CCCP; they were four pretty embarrassing losers (as seen at the time) who, in the end, managed to self-finance their works. Not nothing. I only like Lieve from the CSI; the rest is largely skippable (as well as quite a few things from the CCCP).

I don't agree, I find the Nirvana of Bleach quite tasty, and Bleach far superior to Nevermind (which doesn't drive me crazy). Great album, nice review, great band ("prayers on fire" is a solid 5 for me).

I don't really like it that much instead. Have you heard that they're closing CBGB's, right? They've been evicted.

Among other things, if you are unable to accept simple objections to the obvious bravado that you keep spouting (which, indeed, even an elementary school child could easily refute), it'd be better for you to find another hobby rather than insult people in complete anonymity on the internet—you're not coming out of this well, and I think it's evident to everyone. So, I leave you to your last avalanche of insults as an anonymous poster, hoping that you will then stop getting worked up, live a real life, and direct your attention to things far more important than me and Vasco Rossi. If it helps, I find that: 1) Not only is Vasco Rossi on par with Velvet Underground and Television (as DeGregori could certainly confirm), but his career is clear evidence of his sweet and refined spirit, and his songs, which may initially seem somewhat trivial and superficial, are instead pieces of undeniable technical and compositional skill; 2) His political commitment in the struggle of the Good against the Bad is absolutely undervalued (because it's inconvenient, clearer than that): the Bad, clearly afraid, are forced to give him space on their mass media channels and to acknowledge him the proper importance in society; 3) Vasco was not only among the first to criticize the System (which at first glance might seem like a formless ball of populism, a bit like the Orwellian "Enemy," but which is instead a necessary abstraction of society—one can recognize the Bad at first sight), but he was the very first. Before, mentioning names and surnames risked scattering one's forces; now, thanks to Vasco, you can take aim at something generic enough to include more or less everyone (or no one, as some fascist might argue); 4) Silverblasco, who is clearly a pseudonym for the good Scaruffi, is a fine connoisseur of music, so much so that he ignores a decade of political struggles (infamous as "'68") to credit Vasco with merits that history will certainly recognize sooner or later. Now, excuse me, but I have my Porsche double-parked; I need to go.
