The best is GHOTIC... I would definitely give that a 5!

You know how it is, I haven't found many reviews about it and so... I'd like to write some myself. I hope to manage to do it sooner or later. So far, I've sent SHADES OF GOD by Paradise Lost but they still haven't published it...

Forgive me, but I made an unforgivable mistake; I meant to ask a question. Did you see that on this album the Cradle practically rehashed 3 renditions of their old songs + 1 cover of Sister Of Mercy (NO TIME TO CRY)? Couldn't they have offered us something new? I’m the first to say that some Cradle albums are really beautiful (by the way, the latest one isn’t bad at all...). I certainly didn’t mean to say what you understood. In fact, I’m the first to say that a band can also choose not to change their style throughout their career (if you think about it, those who do often get worse...). Maiden or Manowar are a glaring example. What I’m saying is that this is truly the worst album they’ve made, and it has nothing to do with their other compositions; a 5/5 rating is really exaggerated....

I never said that Cradle suck/can't play/can't sing, etc... However, it's necessary to face reality: they can't come up with anything new. This album is extremely poor in ideas and interesting concepts. Another thing. If I'm not mistaken, in all their reviews on this site, Cradle have received 5/5. Is it possible that all their albums are masterpieces!? A little objectivity, please. The only albums that deserve that rating are "The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh" and "Dusk And Her Embrace." You can't give a 5 to an album just because it says Cradle Of Filth on the cover... It’s important to be objective! And this goes beyond any discussion about genres and technique.

Do you know if there’s anyone on this site besides you and me who listens to Doom/Gothic Metal? Or at least, who understands anything about it?

It's definitely a step forward compared to the previous two... But the Paradise Lost of GHOTIC, SHADES OF GOD, and DRACONIAN TIMES were something else...

GRAAAANDE!!!!!! The Silent Enigma is my favorite album and A Dying Wish is my favorite song.....the first time I heard it, I could barely hold back my tears. Phenomenal Anathema. I also love The Angel And The Dark River by MDB. In general, I really love Gothic/Doom.
I can recommend as Gothic "Tears Laid In Earth" by The Third And The Mortal. If you're looking for classic Doom, there's "Epicus, Doomicus, Metallicus" by Candlemass or "Forest Of Equilibrium" by Cathedral. Finally, I can suggest "Eternity" by Anathema (on this I can't give you objective judgments because, as you might have understood, I'm a bit biased....)

A masterpiece. FADE TO BLACK the best song by Metallica.
