You said it well. MTV STUFF. In fact, I hate those too, (Marilyn Manson being the most disgusting example…..). They also play with the ideas of many young people. However, their nihilism is false and sold because it is superficial and not profound (you can see it in their lyrics).
The bands I listen to, on the other hand, I know are sincere because they have often shown it; sometimes in a terribly wrong way, like Burzum, but they do show it, and often the level of writing in Metal is extremely high. But, for example, the total nihilism of extreme Metal bands cuts them off from a larger audience, also because, contrary to what is often suggested, many aspects like politics are put on the back burner in Metal.
I find that Modena, by using political slogans, on one hand, manage to distance themselves from the crowd of MTV bands (which for me, I repeat, are on the same level of baseness!) but at the same time ensure a consistent following. It’s true that they are not the only ones, but I repeat, between the MTV bands (I mention Manson or Slipknot and various clowns again…) and Anathema, Dimmu Borgir, My Dying Bride, Darkthrone (just to name a few…) there is a striking difference!

Well...... I don't think so.....

For me, the highest points ever reached by the Norwegian black metal scene are
IN THE NIGHTSIDE ECLIPSE by Emperor and NEMESIS DIVINA by Satyricon.
But these are just opinions. This remains an absolute masterpiece!

There’s a lack of color in my life, but I take pride in it!!!!! At least I don’t live in pathetic illusions seasoned with political slogans that are good only for washing one's mouth. What do you believe, that life will look you in the face? Poor deluded ones, it’s true I lack color but because (as much as I know you won’t believe these words you little creatures) it has been ripped from me by a world that thrives on preconceptions, illusions, and disappointments. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ME AND FALLEN AND YOU IS THAT WE AT LEAST KNOW WHAT WE’RE SAYING WHILE YOU LIVE BEHIND A WALL OF ILLUSIONS, UNREALIZABLE DREAMS. Realize that life in this world is nothing but a pointless passage of time with the illusion of being able to be happy….. As for music: in the one I listen to, there may also be a lack of colors, but at least they can convey emotions, their pain, their anger without needing to HIDE BEHIND FALSEHOOD AND IGNORANCE!!!!!!

How much pain there is between the grooves of this record....

Intense, deep, devastating...... One of the highest peaks ever reached in the entire history of Metal.

A work of art even though THE SILENT ENIGMA and ETERNITY are decidedly better... But once again Anathema have gifted us with great poetry and emotions.
