Anathema Judgement

I don't believe they have completely renounced the Doom roots of their music; after all, the band has always tried to highlight how the current sound is still a child of experimentation born from Doom Metal. Their career has been relatively downhill after TSE because ETERNITY remains tremendous, A4 is a new but very personal style, and the same goes for this JUDGEMENT.

Yes, it's true that Anathema are fundamentally always Doom; I don’t mean to say that this guarantees them perfection all the time... I gave them a 5 based on my opinions… I repeat: I also believe that the Anathema of THE SILENT ENIGMA are the best ever seen, but that doesn’t mean that they got worse qualitatively afterward.

Or do you not have the courage?

And then in the gothic realm (I know that what I'm about to say will cost me a general stoning, but I don't care) Sentenced are worth at least three times as much as the much-lauded Lacuna Coil to which you gave a 5 for an album that doesn't even come close to this one...

I mean within the genre of the new Anathema... a genre that has become excessively overused and produces more and more bands every day, but few of true value! I've heard at least fifty bands labeled Gothic Metal (I repeat: Gothic not Doom!!!) but none of them has ever come even remotely close to the works of Anathema or Paradise Lost (even though these two bands are not exactly gothic metal either).

I live in the province of Bergamo and I'm sixteen too... About black stuff, it's a bit of a similar discussion; it really depends on the style of the various groups...

Great review again... However, I can't give the album a 5. I've already told you, Jigoro, I prefer intelligent Death, and the same goes for Death! By the way, can you recommend some death CDs that don't necessarily talk about blood, rot, and disembowelments? (exclude those by Death because they were one of the first Metal bands I listened to and I have all their CDs…)

Perfect reception as usual, I like the album but only up to a certain point (the lyrics are horrible).

Nice little story about the Deathster who listens to Slipknot... The review is nice too. The band isn't overly liked for their lyrics, but otherwise they're okay!
