It's true... Dimmu are more black (much closer to Emperor). Cradle do have many more influences (except for Doom, which I don't see in Cradle) especially gothic. As for the videos you've seen, maybe I've seen some too, and indeed it was a whole different story...

It's not true that they don't belong. They were the first groups to take a lesson from the Emperor, incorporating keyboards into their black metal compositions, so the connection is there, perhaps not completely.
In any case, at least Dimmu Borgir play well live, and they do it with dark misery. The Cradle live are the epitome of uselessness. Dani doesn't sing (because what he produces live isn't singing but some sort of stammering nonsense), and the others leave much to be desired. I don’t want to exaggerate, but among the most famous Metal bands (they're now one of the most well-known bands), they might be the group that plays the worst live!!!

I say this because nowadays their genre offers much better (let's be honest, Cradle have never been on the level of Dimmu Borgir and probably never will be. The same goes for a comparison with Children Of Bodom, even though they’re not exactly the same genre. Have you seen them live?... come on, Dani barely sings, he stutters!!! Nothing compared to Shagrath or Alexi Laiho). The title track is one of the tracks that disappointed me the most; aside from Liv Kristine's spine-chilling performance, I don't like it, just like the whole album which I find very boring. I only save GILDED CUNT and SWANSONG FOR A RAVEN.
