thank you core & others, too many compliments, not even my mother gives me those anymore! I was listening to it again yesterday and it's really cute. Oh, if you feel like buying it, get the double vinyl, the 4th side (not recorded, it only has 3 sides engraved) has the vinyl printed in bas-relief with the aforementioned Tower of London, very cool.

I was just thinking that I would like to dedicate the review to Trell, to whom the album would have made him spray shit. Today he would have turned 7 years old. Happy birthday, Mala...

@seagull: keep Bartle's advice in mind; they're the best records for me too (but the best remains Burning Off, personally) @kosmo: I'm becoming predictable :) @bartle: in the end, you're almost right to draw a parallel with Carpenter's soundtracks (if you want, try listening to Umberto, a character who references that keyboard-heavy stuff on the edge of kitsch), but V for Vendetta is also a great product of that golden 80's period of dystopian science fiction. Oh, and if you go to the linked site, there's also a video of Daughter of Bilitis (which I forgot to mention, damn me!)
Sofia Coppola Lost In Translation

In my opinion, this is an "unintentionally" silent film, in the sense that for me it remains an enormous vacuum of meanings. Coppola is quite the opportunist; just look at how she dressed for the presentation of this film in Tokyo... I mean, over time I've slightly re-evaluated it, but I left the cinema quite disgusted by the blatant racism of the film. Now I don't find it as bad, just opportunistic. Maybe it's that with Johansson, the only thing that should matter are her boobs, and I've always had a latent dislike for Murray, but I just couldn't bring myself to watch it again. Nice review ajm, better than the film :)

No, I think it remains quite sunny; the connections to the aforementioned folk bands that are half psych are more about atmospheres than similar songs. Let me know, soulman!

@kaz: download it first, always, I wouldn't want you to insult me if you find it crap! @purpulan: look, I'm also obsessed with the latest Black Lips, just delightfully sticky like they should be. After Let It Bloom, I think it's the best one.

It's an honor, soulman! Yes, you are right about the post-punk leftovers, but I don't have much experience with the subject, so I'm not really able to make comparisons.

It has also grown for me, the vinyl I got in NY has turned all to a rotten brown, and it deserves it.

I'm about to order Shapes too, and surprise, the latest Black Lips is actually quite nice, always more """"pop""" but in the end 16 tracks and zero fillers, incredible I thought they were done.

At the time of the release, I had just come out of 6 years of extreme dylandoghism, and I couldn't wait to see it. I remember it as junk like no other, except for the awesome breasts of the hot girl from Falchi, but I don't vote because of those somewhat outdated memories.
