Motorpsycho It's a Love Cult

I'm sorry to step outside the chorus of praise this album has received... I hate to say it, since Motor are one of my three favorite bands... and probably the only one of which I have almost all the EPs... but this album just didn't grab me at all... I don't know why... it didn't convey much to me from the very first listen and it seems to me that on the path of pop/psych they have taken since "Let them eat cake," they've kind of lost their way... there are no tracks that stick in my head or those that grow on you over time... maybe I just haven't listened to it enough... anyway, the songs themselves live are, as usual, three times better.

I agree with Pancia... who has seen them the same number of times as me... live, they are the best band I have ever seen... I’m not saying they are the absolute best because there are certainly others better... but for me, theirs is a semi-cult... and then this album has my favorite song... Kill Some Day... even though it’s a blast from start to finish... it’s also the album that introduced me to them, so I won't say more...

People, it's fine that there's something nice in this album... "House of Jealous Lovers" has a good drive... even though it's been annoying the hell out of me since it came out almost a year ago... but if you feel like listening to Gang of Four, just go for it first... and then the fourth track (of which I've forgotten the name) is SHAMEFUL... oh my god, it sounds like the Village People without any irony... I think there's a limit, which unfortunately has been crossed way too often lately, regarding which '80s sounds should be revived... I mean, there's a limit to everything... soon someone will drag out Milli Vanilli...

A 5 is not enough as a score... just this album alone would be enough to explain to a Cro-Magnon man what PSYCHEDELIA is... good job, piddle, for pointing out that the two albums were recorded in the same studios... I’d add that Pete Townshend and John Lennon were great fans of Syd and that Sgt Pepper reflects that influence... you can't compare two beautiful albums like that anyway... what pains me is that the person who wrote this review is clearly someone who likes the Floyd of the 70s... for me, the essential albums go up to Meddle and at most Dark Side, just for their historical importance... I know many will take this as snobbery, but the first album I heard was Piper and for me, the REAL Pink Floyd remain these...

Oh my, if Ian McKaye heard you... emo-core... but where did you hear Jimi Hendrix? ...but anyway, don't take it as a personal criticism... or at least it's normal not to be in sync with musical tastes and definitions. But where did you even hear Gish... I don't know?!
Black Sabbath Master Of Reality

In my opinion, the best album by Black... just Children of the Grave and Into the Void would be enough to justify the purchase... Kyuss knows a thing or two about that... maybe that's why they were my favorite band...

I agree about the album and especially about Liezah, my favorite song of the summer... for me they are one of the few interesting bands at the moment... well, there are others but among the mainstream ones, they aren't bad... the sad thing is that to hear something "new" that you like, it has to sound absolutely old... is the future just going to be electronics? Finally, much respect for the comment about Coldplay... I would have been muuuuch harsher... almost more than nature has been with them... they make me feel pity...

Sorry, I'm new.....but not when it comes to Kyuss...I agree on the monstrous sonic assault of this album, but also of the subsequent Sky Valley with which I got to know them 10 years ago....who among you saw them live in '95? I just want to make one criticism to Ummagumma72: I assume you're a Kyuss fan, right? So why do you use such an unnecessary term as Stoner for Kyuss? Like "Grunge," it’s a bullshit term coined to create a musical uniformity within a varied scene...if John Garcia hears you say that Kyuss sounds "Stoner" he’ll get really pissed off! It’s quite normal, considering that it’s all the bands that copied the Kyuss sound that are labeled as stoner, right? One last question to everyone: what are the must-have albums of this supposed "Stoner"?

Actually, there are three different covers because the album was released over a year ago in America. The deal is that each edition has different songs...in my opinion, the best one is the yellow cover. Unfortunately, I don't quite agree with calling it psychedelic...I mean, it's a nice album that captures your attention right from the first listens, but aside from some easy tricks (looped sounds as intros, etc.), there’s not much that’s truly psychedelic...maybe I'm just being too selective...
