Dear Leighton, when we talked at the concert you were too drunk, and I realized that I speak better Japanese than you do (at least from what you told me); soon your cute CD that's been sitting in my player for a month will be reviewed, are you happy? Mata nee iyarashii

I'm not trying to save the White Stripes, but it seems rather simplistic to evaluate them solely from a technical instrumental perspective... it's obvious that they are two dogs (she’s the closest thing to a puppet from the Neapolitan puppet show I've ever seen!) and I agree with you about the sound gaps (those who have seen them live have said that occasionally they were embarrassed for them). My judgment on the Libertines comes from the fact that I can spot their musical references instantly and they look pretty silly doing it... the Stripes don’t blow me away, but their musical influences, being more rooted in the past (I don’t know jack about Bluegrass, and very little about '50s rock 'n' roll apart from the classics) feel less sincere to me, that’s all. If you want, I can tell you about the "new releases" that smell of "old" that are worth a listen: Outrageous Cherry, Lazily Spun, and not much else... just personal opinions...

No, holy shit, are you also from Ancona like me? I agree with you only on one thing, which is a question you raised: can we write about music as we write about politics, literature, linguistics, or other sciences of knowledge? Can we really create a general reference through which we can compare and thus give an OBJECTIVE judgment of a musical product? I'm also digging my own grave here because I make this interest the center of many things in my life, but the doubt remains... well, maybe I'm just rambling... anyway, although I don't consider myself a genius, I feel physically, intellectually, spiritually, and especially linguistically superior to Sgarbi, the only example of a higher primate lacking the characteristics of the typical species like an opposable thumb... anyway, if you expose yourself by writing, you have to accept criticism. Long live the rosé and the Kurnalcool!

I agree with Hal....but what disappointed me a little is in our gun...I don't know, maybe they've just tired me out in general, as much as the first two dschi drove me crazy...especially the first one, which was in the top five for almost a year after its release. Bye.

THE LIBERTINES!!!!! Oh my God, this is not good... you might have mentioned the worst of the whole pseudo-new wave rock... arrrghhh I’m feeling sick! Among the recent ones to save, I think there are the Coral... the Coral... maybe the White Stripes... and we need to distinguish between those who are known and the endless list of names that might suck just the same but are unknown... underground, let’s remember, is not synonymous with quality...

I bet if it had come out in '95, nobody would have cared, considering the sounds that were popular at the time were purely punk (Green Day) or at most Brit-pop...

As mentioned before, the plagiarism of the Stooges involves the removal of the hypothalamus from these 4 Australians... I'm increasingly realizing that my lawyer is right... "only buy stuff from the '60s or '70s at most or you'll get sued!"... is he right?

Finally a decent rec of this album... maybe I'll listen to it in Kyoto... or was it Tokyo? Good job, nice rec.
