Difficult discussion about Motor 2.0 (that is, after Gebhardt's departure). Specifically, a judgment is suspended until approximately next July, given the little time available and, on the other hand, the enormous amount of listens that this brick requires. For now, I had hoped for better in the union with the jazz ensemble; I imagined something more free-form, dissonant free jazz codas and the like. For now, it seems a bit like a "bourgeois" backdrop to a very Crimsonian idea of prog (therefore the good idea of prog). Still for now, it seems better than Heavy Metal, which had bored me a lot; I never managed to listen to it in full (even though the piece that opens Roadwork 4 is spectacular). However, what I miss the most about Motor are the SONGS. It's been since Black Hole/Black Canvas that the Norwegians haven't hit on the songs, opting instead for a musical stream of consciousness that aims to recreate their mammoth live performances. No matter how skilled they are, though, since Little Lucid they've replaced the long but simple and atmospheric pieces of the past (not tied to a "technical" idea of prog) like Un Chien D'Espace and The Wheel with beautiful but somewhat heavy complex architectures, which work fine, in my opinion, for an album (the aforementioned LLM) but ultimately weigh down the listening experience. If they come around, I still gladly see them again, as they remain one of the best live bands in existence.

ANGST MODE ON - I’ve read some absurd comments from people who listen to Fugazi, to pick a random band, writing “I’ll miss you.” But how the hell does that work? I mean, this lady here is the source of evil in music, she kickstarted (poor thing, it’s not like she did it on purpose) things like Mariah Carey, and all those fucking half-shouted diva wannabes, producing senseless warblings, self-serving, over ridiculous tunes, and all ending up or will end up the same way, alone, high on whatever drug (maybe to forget/redemptive for the shit music previously produced?) and in a perpetual war with the relentless march of time. I’ll bet €100 that the next one is Marianona Carey. Furthermore, I Wanna Dance With Somebody is a nightmarish song from my childhood, one of the many reasons I'm not nostalgic about the '80s and a valid reason to never get close to that type of plastic garbage music, fake cheerfulness, ever again. Anyway, poor Whitney was also the star of a legendary moment on French TV with Gainsbourg that is worth watching: ANGST MODE OFF

You've just arrived and I already hate you! Just kidding, of course. It's just that I've been trying for about three years to write down a few lines about this incredible album, and I never managed to finish them. One remark: O.D. Catastrophe is basically the Stooges' TV Eye, sung in a monotonous rhythm that exactly echoes TV Eye. Now, about the album, after years of prolonged listening to Spacemen 3, I've realized that this is their favorite sound and that this is their best record. No drug-ambient lullabies (which I do like, but less so; that's why, for example, I don't really love Spiritualized), just silly, dazed riffs repeated endlessly. Songs that start the way they end, as if they were fragments recorded of eternal pieces, fixed in someone's mental cosmos. When my partner asks me what the hell I'm thinking when I'm quiet, I play Losing Touch With My Mind and tell her, "this is the sound of my brain." In fact, this and Taking Drugs are and will remain for me the best of Kember and Pierce. I recommend the vinyl reissue of this released in 2009 by Fire Records.

Taking advantage of the Vladivostok-style vibe of the last two weekends, I listened to the album quite closely. The combination of electronic drums + cheesy synths in Ode to sad Disco isn't that terrible after all; in fact, the effect leans more towards early 70s German electronic than the plastic 80s sound. The worst parts are actually some pieces that are canonically "rock," like Quiver Syndrome, which sounds like a cover of The Dandy Warhols. Anyway, I give it a pass, at least for the attempt to break away from the role of cigarettes & alcohol crooner + sick blues (even if that’s the incarnation of Lanegano I prefer).
Hayao Miyazaki Mirai shonen Konan (Conan, il ragazzo del futuro)

one of my favorite anime, and one of the few that stands the test of time (I rewatched it a ton during university; I had a friend who recorded it on VHS): They aired it continuously in the Marche region throughout the '80s. Captain and Jimsy are my favorite characters, and the best scene is when the aforementioned Jimsy trades food supplies for the "Taba-Taba," well-known "correct" cigarettes. Miyazaki has always been a bit of a free spirit inside.

great album a notch below Thank Christ and Split (which might be my favorite). B.D.D. has been one of my go-to tracks during the summer psychedelic DJ nights.

Well, Forever Changes is the album of the heart of all times, by the Zombies, I think I’ve got nothing to say.

In the end, I got it, in the double CD version (as Dope writes, the vinyl is honestly too expensive). I also like + Dio's Pet Sounds more in the end, but the BBs are not my favorite group of the 60s, nor will they probably ever be, they've never really resonated with me.

Well, the link is juicy; I think I read about it somewhere around the time of its release when I was still obsessed with manga and animation. Definitely worth checking out, it seems.
