I'll explain to you why they haven't broken through: because since Evil Urges, they've mostly released crap. This is less of a mess than Evil, but it doesn't raise the level much. It's not easy to slam them like this; 10 years ago, they were one of my favorite bands and up to Z, hats off.... then the blonde Jim James lost his ego compass and they were done.

Well done, you reminded me that I had to get it back. Nothing to say about them, as mentioned by others, always surprising and never still, musically speaking. They might or might not appeal to you (I, for instance, can hardly listen to them on record, but live they're phenomenal and I would see them kind of always) this must be admitted.

The soundtrack of my 14 years!!!! To all the manonegro fans, I recommend the DVD that was released 6/7 years ago, which is amazing, with a ton of live performances and like three documentaries from that time.

Honestly, I had picked up the previous reissue by those geniuses at Light in the Attic, but it didn't exactly make me shout with joy... do you think this one is better? I think it was called Fully Qualified Survivor, with a grayish cover. The review is beautiful as usual.

I agree with good Fest, after Ekranoplan I like them less (even though I have When Sweet Sleep... on vinyl too!). Great Silas for mentioning Transmalinnia, which I enjoyed very much last year. Regarding the COmets, they reformed to play on the latest Six Organs Of Admittance, "Ascent," which indeed sounds like BEn Chasny + Comets (perhaps even too much). Thanks to all the commentators. Kosmo's anecdotes are really interesting, even though I realized I didn't understand a damn thing about Anton's musical influences :) Anyway, from one heavy drug to another, good old Anton, but honestly, I prefer him as a heroin addict than an Internet one (it's something of colossal sadness). And I agree that witnessing the creative process of an album is really a bleak thing. But you have to expect that from an egotist like Newcombe, right?
