The Mandrake Memorial Puzzle
Voto:
Wow, it feels like I've gone back to my listening habits from 7/8 years ago when all I sought was stuff like this! I should revisit Puzzle calmly; I didn’t like it much, despite the praises I've read from many sources. And I have to say that some groups I used to rave about have slightly worn my nerves thin. Usually, the remedy is to buy their original works, even though it seems absurd. There were always great proposals, but an unfiltered piece of advice: read them again, the reading becomes difficult due to repetitions and typos. Bye (and don't worry, it's normal on Debaser for the continuous drop in comments; then they pick up again, although I've noticed less interest from everyone, including myself).

The definitive spinach, finally rediscovered. Actually, you've made me want to buy it; it's been buried for some eons among the burned DVDs.
Arbouretum Coming Out Of The Fog

Here, I finally realized that Heumann's voice is now bothersome to me. Rites remains a half masterpiece, but after just good craftsmanship, perhaps good is the one preceding this Fog. However, I also avoided going to see them; thinking that at the time of Rites, I would have taken a plane just to see them.

I provide and agree! The last one, what do you think??? I like it, but let's just say it's very """"pop""""

Well done, rano, I had been meaning to do it for like 7/8 years! Actually, you made me want to listen to it again, but in the end, I liked the Frankhauser & HMS album more. I have the two-disc edition with the second album, which is honestly bad, at least as much as the unlikely figure at the center bottom. It has been a subject of mockery among my friends and acquaintances for years. The ugliest musician that ever existed.

The Flaming Lips The Terror

At first glance, it had me a bit freaked out... but instead, despite being super depressed, almost catatonic, it has an ENORMOUS addictive power! True, it's the methadone brother of Embryonic. And the 13 minutes of "You Lust" drive me crazy.

I agree, got it from eBay a while ago, and honestly, I was expecting a little more. Nice but nothing more, sometimes it reminds me of Bevis Frond.
Howlin Rain The Russian Wilds
Voto:
oh don't stone me, but I think this record is TERRIBLE, light years away from the good stuff Miller made with Comets On Fire, and even when compared to the beautiful first album under the name Howlin Rain. And here, I think Rick Rubin doesn't help; it's a glossy record, with very predictable solutions and a bit dull too. Maybe I'm exaggerating, but I always want 101% from Miller, nothing less.

I never really understood this half-loser. I remember having Doldrums and another one that came out around 2004/2005, and it was all wonky lo-fi pop psych. And a bit useless, pour moi. Then I find it everywhere on the webzines three years ago, I give it another listen and no, I just can’t do it. If before it seemed kind of nice and nothing more, the latest stuff is really irritating me, mostly because revisiting things like AOR or FM rock is the last of my guilty pleasures. But how does this compare to the previous one?
