The Millenium The Beginning Of The End

These were on my radar about ten years ago when I was searching for a lot of psych prog pop stuff from that era.

At my house, I've banned Spotify. A medium for listening to generalist stuff. Wait until I turn off the old fogey mode.

If you’d like, you can also find some vinyl records at my place. This southern Germany might be very interesting. The review of the geometric shapes will arrive this week.

I’ve listened to it a couple of times, and for now, the impression is the one you write about. Also, I’ve always found Their Stanic Second to be a total bore, while I already prefer Methodrone. Then Take It From The Man remains my favorite from the early period. From there on, very little until the Berlin turning point, where, when tightened up, it manages to be better than the old stuff, especially Aufheben, which is beautiful. I wouldn’t underestimate Musique, which for me is a very nice album, perhaps just because it strays from its usual formula.

Damn, you caught me off guard with the timing! It was a plan for one of these evenings, also because I would have written other things spontaneously, now after a month of listening I can be more objective. Aside from the first three/four tracks, it’s nice, especially since they try to vary the formula, incorporating many acoustic guitars while remaining beautifully psychedelic. However, the initial impact in the style of Inti Illimani is terrible. Ah, the story of Korpilombolo is a photonic bullshit, but it made me like them right away. And live, they are really a war machine, even though all the stage trappings would make one think it’s a farce.

Another suggestion: I also write spontaneously, mostly because I don't have the time I did 10 years ago, but proofreading is essential. Otherwise, it's impossible to optimize words and communicate without being verbose. I learned this while writing my thesis. It's one of the most difficult things for a writer, but it's incredibly useful. Usually, I write, don't correct anything, and then the next day I go at it with scissors.
H.P. Lovecraft Teoria dell'orrore. Tutti gli scritti critici
Voto:
I've been a fan of the madman from Providence since I was 13 (around 1989), and it was fateful to stumble upon the anthology from Mondadori back in the day. However, over time and after frequently returning to his stories, I realize that while his ideas are often excellent, they are not always supported by quality writing. Recently, I bought all the comic book editions of his best stories, like At the Mountains of Madness or The Strange Case of Charles Dexter Ward, and I recommend them. I also suggest to those who don’t know him this beautiful essay on Lovecraft written by Michel Houellebecq. CriticaLetteraria: “H.P. Lovecraft. Contro il mondo, contro la vita”, di Michel Houellebecq

As I wrote in another comment, this album is definitely inferior to the first one (which, after all, is not a masterpiece either). I listened to it again last week, and unfortunately, it has few thrills. One suggestion: you write well, we share tastes, but I can hardly ever finish your reviews. If you could be more concise, you would be perfect.
Bobb Trimble Iron Curtain Innocence

I read a nice piece about it a while ago on "mucchio" or even in one of the few blow-ups I have (memory serves me right, around 2004). And I think Ariel Pink got to it pretty late; Bobb had already been rediscovered before his appearance. I didn't know they ended up pressing it after all.

Interesting, also because you reminded me that I also have discs from Beyond, the Kiki Pau which I should have reviewed here on Deb. By the way, they are very nice; the last time I was in NY for work, they sent said disc directly to a record store in Manhattan. And you should have seen my face when I walked in, asked for the disc, and the clerk asked me, "are you Claudio?" I honestly thought I was overdoing it with these records :)
