For me, their success has always been a huge enigma. It's as if the Strokes have a large and devoted following despite being a patchwork of clear and sometimes glaring influences. I mean, you can't ignore or gloss over the fact that the singer's voice is identical (or rather imitative) to Ian Curtis. I saw them twice in 2002 and, while they were very good live, no one could deny that everyone, and I mean everyone, was saying this. Then, as if by magic, derivative-ism was set aside, and only lavish praise followed. A big "meh."

Present tomorrow in Rome. For years, I refused to see them live again, holding on tightly to the memories of the last time I saw them, now 22 years ago, still in Rome. Let's hope for the best.

I read about it a couple of months ago, but I always forgot to look for the record. Thanks soto for reminding me :)

I lost track of them after the second album, the one with the toucan on the cover. Great free until then, curious to know if they still sound like that. Even certain aspects of the omega team have many points of connection with Aktuala.

The most talked-about thing of the decade? Really? Anyway, they came into the house through my partner, who discovered them not long ago. But far from having listened to them (I labeled them as boring a decade ago, I believe, and I'm a consistent person, so I still avoid them out of prejudice).
Vive la Void Vive la Void

Thanks, you answered a question I had, namely who was behind sti vive la void. As for the wooden shjips vs moon duo situation, I don't know what else to say. The moon duo are almost more centered, although they are monolithic too. Unfortunately, the wooden formula has become tiresome, mainly because it's hard to be diverse while making those kinds of songs. I'm listening to the latest, but it's in line with the last one and the one before that. I guess taking the first, DOS, and the two compilations should be enough.
Sleep The Sciences

I should start by saying that I've never been a hardcore fan of sleep, mainly because of the sounds, which are too metallic for my taste. In the sacred stoner trinity, I side with Kyuss and Monster Magnet, just to clarify. But hats off to the album; in small doses, during long drives, I blast it and I have to say I find it on par with the historical production.

Oh, I have to say that I don’t mind it at all; in fact, it’s growing quite a bit with the listeners. In an unexpected way, because usually all Caribbean music (dub and reggae aside) has always hurt my eardrums.

Once I used to catch records like this on the fly, but now I don't come across one anymore. It should be right up my alley, given how you write about it. In fact, great review, I'm off to get it!

I plan to listen to it again over the weekend. It could be my cup of tea for the time being. But who was the guy playing with?
