Beautiful, I don't know if it's among the best, but beautiful. Among those published in the last 10 years, since they returned after a nearly decade-long break, I really liked Allelujah Don't Bend Ascend.

If I'm not mistaken, it's a Japanese format. I tried to watch it with my thirteen-year-old daughter, who, although she appreciates Matano, Elio, and another one of those guys I don't know, I have to say that by the third episode, she was the first to give up. I mean, aside from Lillo and Guzzanti (who, in a context like this, isn’t funny at all), we’re around cosmic nothingness. I mean, if this stuff makes you laugh, then even Zelig or Colorado Cafè are comedy shows...

I should refresh my quadrilogy; these days it could have a great effect. Let’s hope to be back out on the streets for towel day :(

Um, honestly after seeing it, and knowing it was an Oscar contender, I thought the exact opposite. Cute, Ahmed's performance was really good, that it was, but the screenplay was quite weak. Then I found the connection between being a musician and becoming deaf to be really tenuous; I mean, he accepts it with a calmness that doesn't match the very real and well-executed portrayal of what it means to be deaf and the deaf community. I repeat, interesting, but nothing groundbreaking.

Oh, I forgot to mention that they record for Castleface Records by John Dwyer of the Oh Sees, now increasingly leaning towards psychedelia and less towards garage. The voice belongs to the singer, and their live performances are quite interesting for what you can see on YouTube

Oh, really, just like the good Odra, I was unsure if it was you or some kind of fake. Look what the pandemic does to you, after Enea, now you too. Good to see you again; at this point, I’ll start being a bit more consistent as well.

Last concert I saw (for a while, I believe) was at the Monk at the end of February '20. What can I say, maybe I prefer Underside Of Power, but the problem is they haven't made a great album from start to finish yet. And live, they are very good, but it depends on how the singer's voice is. When I saw them, he wasn't at his best, and the band loses a lot without his voice at its peak.

Beautiful, at times very much so, I’m trying to moderate my listening so as not to cloud my judgment with overexposure. For now, it holds up to what it promises, and maybe a little more. Thanks to @[kloo] for introducing me to them, along with all the Speedy Wunderground stuff that I believe came out at the end of '19. The only note I have is that sometimes the vocals overdo the hieratic tones, becoming unintentionally hilarious, at least for me. In short, the faux suffering and the fake theatricality have the same effect on me as symphonic metal singing. But it seems to be in just one track (I’ll blast it at work now and let you know which one). The references are beautiful and spot on; there were some passages I couldn't quite place, and they were indeed GYBE and Laughing Stock.
S.T. Joshi Io Sono Providence: la biografia di H.P. Lovecraft

I continue to recommend one of the most interesting books on HPL, namely "Against the World, Against Life" by Houellebecq. Unfortunately, yes, Lovecraft is being talked about a lot now, but only in superficial nerd circles (superficial because the real nerds I knew 30 years ago in our gaming club called Locìvecraft were all avid readers, not people who barely know the difference between Cthulhu and Azathoth). Lovecraft's positions, of course, must be contextualized to the time period and his old-fashioned education (even by the standards of the time). Like all forms of racism (not just related to ethnicity or skin color, but in general), behind it all was the fear of the different, of the collapse of the categories he considered unbridgeable, and generally the fear of change, which was very fast in America during the 1920s. All elements that can be recognized in the various monsters of the myths, imaginative projections of such fears (the monsters of the Cthulhu Mythos always combine physical characteristics that should not coexist: wings with tentacles, heads without eyes, elytra, webbed feet, etc.). Judging him with today’s eyes is easy, but an additional effort of contextualization must be made. On the other hand, however, his worldview should definitely not be overlooked or passed off lightly. Another recommendation for HPL lovers is the three beautiful volumes of the comic "Providence" by Alan Moore, one of the best stories inspired by HPL and his tales.
