But then what does it matter, since the bass on the album was recorded by Bob Rock, not Trujillo. He joined the band after the album was already finished. :D

Well, in "Justice" the bass is there, but it's completely overwhelmed by the wall of guitars. As far as I know, it was something Hetfield wanted. It's the only flaw in the production of that album.
Newsted is a good bassist, he has a unique style; if you notice in concerts, he never fingerpicks, he always uses a pick. Even though Burton was from another planet, when I think of Metallica, I also think of Newsted. Trujillo is totally indifferent to me.
And the way I see it, that "official" reason wasn't the only motive for him to leave; there's definitely something else behind it that we will never know.

A colossal fuck-up, go listen to "My Friend Of Misery." And at concerts, he always had great interludes with Kirk Hammett. Trujillo may be good, but he’s a pain in the ass.

But why is it so trendy to review albums that have already been reviewed? And then if only they would add something new to these reviews, I don’t know. Think of something original, for crying out loud. The only redeeming parts of the album are the first three tracks, and in my opinion, Hetfield's voice is phenomenal. The rest is old news; Metallica have been dead for almost 15 years.

I share some things, but not everything, especially about the latest tracks. I agree that it's the best of the new phase, but it remains a "nice" album and nothing more imho.
Haven't you generalized too much about the degenerates?

Yes, cute. However, the content of the limited edition DVD is outrageous, a real screw-up. Aside from the fact that this is already the second time (they did it in SoEL2 too) that they release a DVD without subtitles. And for heaven's sake, they're Italians too.

No, no, I am not expecting anything at all; I completely agree that a band should evolve its sound towards new horizons. Of course, some succeed better than others. I don’t dismiss this album, which seriously impressed me; for a week, I played it non-stop. However, objectively, it cannot be considered an original work. They’ve borrowed a lot, that’s true—I’ve said it too—but precisely because ten years have passed, they have very little new to present.
@inge, alright, maybe that statement is a bit of nonsense. Regarding the album rating, it’s subjective, and everyone is free to say it's crap or a masterpiece. But shouldn’t that 2 in the review be more objective? Have I written that many nonsense things?
And why should I give a 4 or 5 to an album that actually folds back on itself after the first six tracks? The second half, aside from three songs, is just plain boring. But I’ve already mentioned this in the review, so I’ll refer you to read it.
