Ulver Wars Of The Roses

I believe this is their settling album, meaning they have finally started to propose concerts, so it’s only natural they begin to write and think of material more suited for live performances. It’s more than normal... I don’t mind the new material at all; sure, the previous ones, especially Blood Inside and Perdition City, are of a slightly higher level, but only because they had the element of surprise that this one, in the end, lacks... But where would you place songs like the opener or September IV, or Providence? A near-masterpiece blessed with a formal imperfection that makes it captivating and enjoyable from the first to the last note! Grandiose Ulver!

I just discovered this CD very recently! It's beautiful anyway! Perhaps, out of the ones I own, it's the one I like the most... but I'm waiting hopefully for the masterpiece called "flood" to drop in price... I've been yearning for that one for quite a while!

spectacular record! no other word! personality, originality, mental deviance, black as pitch... cold, someone says? well, I wouldn't know how to respond other than a "come on, come on!!" it's pitch-black and gloomy, glacial, but not in the detached sense that one might mean by the term "cold," rather chilling!!!! grandiose "shining"!!

completely in agreement with the comment above!! beautiful, perhaps their best since HSFHP! and then the cover, as someone already mentioned, doesn’t make the crap on the windowsill explode, like all the previous ones... that must mean something, right? :) just bought it today in digibook edition with bonus cd, and the bonus track, a whopping 23 minutes long, is the most post-rock they have ever done, and that’s saying something....eh :)

thank you all... :) : I already know NES and Kammerflimmer kollektif, but I don't know why, they don't resonate with me like these kilimanjaro, or bohren und der club of gore, another fabulous group!!
