XGEENOO. If we talk about this record, I agree with you. If we talk about albums like Mongrel (1970), Brand New Morning (1971), Smokin'OPS (1972), Back in '72, and Seven (1974), Petty, Mellencamp (lightyears away from their debut), and partly Springsteen owe a lot to Seger and are anything but sweetened and crowd-pleasing (on the contrary).
