Having read the book. I watched the film in an empty theater in London in its original language. I already talked about it in another review, maybe of the same film. I can't share all this enthusiasm. McCarthy writes well, that is undeniable; I personally appreciate the dry style and the use of short sentences. Ammaniti writes like that too. But the story, as "étonnante" as it may be, didn't speak to me much: it has a strongly "voyeuristic" setup regarding a father's pain, the suffering, the anguish, and the madness of someone who has lost all hope without knowing why. The masterpieces are different.
