The blinders have no limits: after 37 years since his death, it seems logical to me that "technically" – because that's what we're talking about – someone has surpassed him. But back then, who could hold a candle to him? What were Petrucci, Vai and their companions doing when he was playing? Were they sucking from their mom's breast? The movie was a dead bore, I couldn't even watch it all the way through (the first one, I never even tried the others...) I don't feel like expressing opinions because I haven't read the book, and anyway I'm not a fan of the genre, but I am more than certain that the book, unlike the movie, you'll enjoy, or at least it's almost always like that.
