It's been ages since I listened to Labyrinth, as well as power metal in general; I'm no longer interested in this genre. What a nostalgia.

You should ask the person who said it :-) don't you think? - I can give you my interpretation: "they sound black" means that to the ear they are like any black band. "but they are not black" means that they don't fit the clichè of the genre, whether because of the lyrics, or for other reasons.

Dear MAH! In theory, music is music, but if a genre was born under a certain "philosophy," it’s clear that even that has now become part of the cliché, but it’s not an absolute law. Let's think about the opposite... can you imagine Biagio Antonacci singing in his own way about paganism? Or wouldn’t it be cool if a Neapolitan neo-melodic singer talked about death in the same terms as brutal death, right?! :-))) Everyone has the right to play and write whatever they like, but the choice of sounds that fit certain themes is another matter. The topic isn’t easy to tackle anyway, and one cannot generalize...

I knew that unblack metal existed, but I never would have imagined that Hellhammer could play in a band like that. I guess Vincent V is really right. Good review.

From this album, only a few tracks stand out; one hand is enough to count them. Maturity? Well, I’m not completely convinced. MOP, And Justice for All, and also the Black Album—now that was (real) maturity. I’d say the genres are rock and blues, but not "hard."
