Alright, it might be rhetorical (and what isn’t?) but it’s the truth :-), if it weren’t bothersome we shouldn’t hide the truth, which is that she is a daddy's girl. I see no problem in saying it, in fact, she does have some talent...but the excessive judgments I read about her being a great director leave me speechless. I wonder what movies these people who make such hasty judgments have seen in their lives?? That's all, I hope she becomes a great director in the future, she’s still young, but for now, I see her as an Asia Argento with a bit more common sense, let’s say.

I haven't seen Marie Antoinette yet; Lost has a bit more than The Virgins, but I have to say frankly, I've noticed the same vices that make me doubt it: the neon lights, the poses of boredom, and the j&mc with mbv. Don't you think these could be seen as tacky neon signs to attract the gullible of the moment? My criticism isn't entirely negative, in the sense that in Lost the man-woman relationship, as it has been portrayed, somewhat engaged me; the almost whispered introspection of their platonic love scores a 6.5, 7, but it doesn't earn the ticket for the GREAT MOVIE. A film of this kind with neon lights, Tokyo's technological nightlife could be done better by a director like Wong Kar-Wai; just see his Angeli Perduti—now that’s a TRUE GREAT MOVIE without gimmicks to attract the gullible.

I don't even want to make useless comparisons with that living legend of a father; honestly, I saw a little bit of good in her—like the stylization of the sets, for example, the carefully crafted photography—but the plot isn't very convincing. The film ends up being reduced to a refined exercise in style, with a tragic touch just to provide a pessimistic alternative, all seasoned with incredibly annoying faux-philosophical phrases that might spark the interest of any teenager going through an identity crisis. Not the best for someone who's seen over 4,000 notable films, but still, I want to be generous. Since it was her debut, it deserves a viewing, if only for the atmosphere of dark dreaminess that pervades it. But I repeat, great films are something else; this is my opinion.

"so what? that's how the world goes" (the exact phrase said by Totò Riina at his trial in 1994) LOL

Sofia Coppola......of course it has been really difficult for her to carve her way in directing.

festwca take a look at the other reviews of Husker Du, like those on Zen Arcade, those are reviews, 1200 recommended but you can exceed that easily if you have something to write.

Too skimpy for an album of this value, on the level of choral harmony it competes with Zen Arcade, but not in terms of raw violence, and here in my opinion is where emo-core is born, with New Day Rising.
