Very interesting, Ege. You had already mentioned these in the comments of my DAF review, but I don't know them. I really need to get my hands on them, I think I'd like them. Oh, if you can, a sample wouldn't be bad!

A review that's a bit too "poetic" and too little musical for my tastes. It's the first album I bought from the Cure, so I'm attached to it, but it's certainly not a 5/5. In the early '90s, a more "guitar-driven," classic rock sound returned, and they followed this trend in their own way, with great personality.

From the album, I save "One of these days" and "Echoes," but only in parts. The rest is pure garbage. "Seamus," on the other hand, is really a terrible circus show.

I don’t like Pink Floyd, but at least I recognize that they were important innovators of rock, and they achieved that thanks to their original suites, not precisely because of their more canonical songs. When they start making songs, they're just another little band like many others. I haven’t listened to all their albums, but anyway, “Another Brick” isn’t even remotely their best track; in fact, it might be one of the worst—only “Seamus,” from what I remember from my listens, is even worse.

Yes, it’s true, the boundary between haphazardness and calculation is very thin. We listen to the same music, but each of us evaluates it differently. I say that Captain Beefheart, Nick Cave from the Birthday Party, Johnny Lydon in the Pistols, and early Patti Smith sing in a certainly more "scrappy" way, but personally, I find them all to be more gifted and expressive than Thurston Moore, who simply doesn’t have the voice to be a singer. I would have preferred if Kim Gordon had sung everything; she is more prominent in "Evol," which for me has a more evocative voice. Anyway, it's a matter of taste; we could discuss it forever without reaching a conclusion because deciding whether a singer is good or not is completely subjective. If someone told me that Gigi D'Alessio is a great singer, even though I think he sucks, I wouldn’t have many arguments to counter that he’s wrong. I could always say that his songs are syrupy and trivial, but when it comes to the voice, it can be liked or not depending on one's sensitivity.

Well good Bogus, what can I say... I repeat that I don't even understand why I didn't like it, enough to sell it at the fair after a year of trying to get into it... Yes, I'm used to unorthodox standards, but the confusion and the "malcanto" of that album didn't seem exactly "intentional" to me; they felt more like the result of a certain haphazardness. At least, that's been my impression. Instead, I don't feel that way about "Evol," except for a couple of tracks.

In fact... here I am. I love New Wave (not Iron Maiden) but I didn't like this album either, and I can't even explain why since I appreciate its predecessor "Evol." Maybe it's because the singing is really bad?
