I appreciate your disarming sincerity, M. I, too, only said what I thought (without knowing it was "in vogue"). Mine was just the perspective of a music enthusiast; I put myself in the shoes of those who don’t know the Cure (and there are many) or those who know them only superficially (the thirteen-year-old who saw the video for “The end of the world”) or in the shoes of a newbie who has a couple of albums and doesn’t know which other work of theirs is worth buying. Debaser is quite lacking in this regard because there’s an abundance of 5/5 ratings and indulgent reviews from fans; I don’t have a problem with your review, but with the general situation (eight out of ten reviews give 5 stars—how can one trust them?). This is my personal opinion, but a review that is based SOLELY on the listener’s feelings and completely overlooks the musical factor is so vague that it could apply to any album, even Britney Spears or Gigi D'Alessio, since the reader is unaware of the reviewer’s sensitivity.

Okay, awesome, expressing your emotions is fine but not ONLY your emotions without any musical reference. Someone unfamiliar with the Cure might think the review is about Metal, Liscio, or Country, since there's nothing written about what they played and how they sounded.

From the cover, it looks like a caricature of Bono.

It was just my awesome opinion. And anyway, someone who has never listened to the album wouldn’t understand anything about the record by reading this review.

Enk, when is a review coming out on Bronski Beat, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and Soft Cell? If you’ve gone wild with the DMs like that, I’d be curious to read about them… they should excite you even more.
