The Slits Return Of The Giant Slits

"the greatest female collective of that era," If I listen to "Typical Girls" I have many doubts about it, but it's true that I've never delved into them. The writing is good and the critical-historical considerations are insightful, but the album review is somewhat lacking.

I was thinking that once the paper supports disappear (and we are already on the right track), the manipulation of the past for the various Winston Smiths will become much easier.
Sex Pistols Never Mind the Bollocks Here's the Sex Pistols

Reading some above criticisms (90% of which are pretextual and misguided), I considered joining the discussion, but I saw that others had already addressed them, and there was already the excellent review by NWG Nevermind The Bollocks - Sex Pistols - Recensione di ngw to clarify many points. An important album musically (and why not, even quite nice from a pop perspective) and fundamental from a record label standpoint: without them, many bands (including some of my favorites) wouldn't even have started playing, or no label would have taken a chance on them. Thank you, McLaren.

The English teacher showed it to us in our fourth year of high school. I will never stop thanking him.

More than a review, it's a clear analysis of the Sex Pistols phenomenon that I completely agree with. A great piece of writing, well done.

Not all the melodic solutions and vocal parts are to my liking, but this album is truly amazing for the wealth of insightful and brilliant ideas it offers. A goldmine.
Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band Trout Mask Replica

Since 1969, we’ve heard it all (kraut, No and New Wave, Punk, jazz-noise, grind, math & post rock, industrial etc. etc.), and I wondered why an album like Trout could still be so frightening in 2012. Then I took a look at the listening habits of the detractors (mostly classic mainstream rock that would fit in the appendix of TV Sorrisi & Canzoni) and I understood everything.

Never liked him as a player (monocorde baseliner) nor as a media personality (Nike mannequin passed off as a rebel), even though I admit his technical value, perhaps the best response ever. I also find his achievements overrated; it's true he played winning 8 slams when there were great champions around, but it's equally true he mostly won against underdogs and outsiders. Nonetheless, I'm interested in the book because it covers a historical period in which "I was there too" and because I've heard too many good things about it. P.S.: a question for the reviewer, how did you manage to lose 6-0 4-0?!
