Love Forever Changes

At first, when I listened to it, I was only struck by the gem that is "Alone Again Or," undoubtedly one of the most beautiful pop songs of the 60s for me, but the rest didn’t make much of an impression. Then, after re-listening to it after a long time, I realized that the album was actually brilliant from start to finish. Usually, 60s pop doesn’t appeal to me because it's too sweet for my taste, but this one clearly has something extra: atypical sounds, well-crafted arrangements that are even original but never clash with the harmony of the piece, a taste for dry and refined melody without resorting to the ostentatious choruses typical of the Beatles. It's a great album; perhaps only "Younger Than Yesterday" by the Byrds can please me to the same extent in terms of 60s pop.

I really only enjoy the obsession with images in "Photographic" and the war nightmare of the Japanese fighters in dark flavor in "Tora! Tora! Tora!"; the rest is nice, entertaining but not exceptional.

The fixtures have never really captivated me; perhaps it's because of the "sagra della porchetta" organ that I've never been able to stand. This piece, however, is one of their best, maybe even their masterpiece.

"Interstellar Overdrive" is a masterpiece, a genuine journey into another dimension, one of the best tracks from the '60s that has reached my eardrums, in all its versions. The rest is much less irresistible to me, pop songs that hover between the dazed and the spaced out with remnants of beat era leftovers. The rating revolves entirely around "Interstellar"; without it, it would be a 3, with a 4-, and in the reissue with multiple versions, a 4+.

It's well known that I feel as distant from blues rock as I do from Eskimo chants, but I wanted to listen to "Truth" anyway for "educational" purposes, not even hoping that I would like it. And, despite being light-years away from my tastes, I have to admit that I found it well arranged and produced.

Recently seen on YouTube, a magnificent performance from every point of view, even better than "Shadow Of Light."

Nenie folk songs sung by Nichi Vendola. Not the best.

One of his most outlandish and successful albums, it's a shame it lasts just a little over half an hour.

But no one has the courage to give one? Well, I guess I'll be the first. I saw the Clan of Xymox about a dozen years ago, Ronny is clever because he had hired a couple of hot chicks who pretended to play but were there more to "fill the stage." Anyway, I liked them; they gave off the same feeling of "cold suffering" as their albums from the mid-80s.
