You made me remember! I was one of those kids who bought the cassette album, sight unseen. I might have listened to it 5 times and only the first three songs. Then the following year I bought Innuendo, also on cassette, and my musical tastes took a different direction.

As a fan of the pumpkins for almost 25 years, I think I can say something sensible about this, even after a first listen on Spotify: The sound is centered between Machina I and Mary Star of the Sea by Zwan. Excellent Knights Of Malta (which approaches masterpiece territory) and Travels (which brings back emotions like the old times). The two singles, while nice, evoke too much of Mellon Collie, which is a simulacrum that even Billy shouldn't violate anymore. Alienation and Marchin' on are nothing special. Good With Sympathy and Seek And You Shall Destroy. Great choice not to spread the ideas too thin: eight tracks these days are quite enough.
