Sergio Castellito Natale in casa Cupiello

"The real problem is that Eduardo is not Shakespeare, he is not Goldoni, nor is he Pirandello. He is a great playwright and at the same time a great performer, unique in his kind who could interpret a text tailored to him, enriching it with his own mask. The two roles cannot be separated."

I haven't bought any Pumpkins albums since the best-of released after Machina. I was determined to buy this one. And I think I will. Great review.

I believe that those who rated this review with fewer than five stars do not understand anything about objectivity in judgment, writing, and filmmaking.
Lucio Battisti Hegel

A slightly disappointing review. A dazzling album, almost obsessive and overflowing with musical ideas.
Lucio Battisti Cosa succederà alla ragazza

The review grows a bit like the album does. A few rough edges at the beginning, really well done by the end. Dear Battisti (what a catchy nickname!), you hit the nail on the head. Many years ago, I made my debut on this page with a review of Hegel, perhaps the first about the white albums. My nickname comes from there; that voice of the face you reference appropriately when talking about Però il rinoceronte: the best song in Battisti's repertoire, you say... and I’m right behind you, maybe it is the best. And probably CSAR is even better than Hegel, contrary to what I believed until a few years ago. What else can I say? There’s so much more to say. But be careful, this is an incredibly well-played album, just look at the credits. There's also the fifth Queen Spike Edney, not just any session musician! In any case, thank you for bringing back some memories, and to celebrate tonight I will listen to CSAR for the umpteenth time. After all, we know that the white albums never get old. Goodbye!

A review that almost reconciles me with these dark times.
