no no, no pretentiousness: but someone like the great Steve deserves a bit of precision, for crying out loud.
The nickname, as another devoted "picciotto" rightly pointed out, comes from the legendary film. A former colleague of mine, knowing about my passion, started calling me that, with 2 b's attached (in the Sicilian way).
By the way, a new Jansen/Sylvian production is about to be released, under the name of Nine Horses.....stay tuned, I’ve had a chance to hear some samples and....it sounds very promising!

...cool these discussions about multinational companies. Oh yes, because the "kids" today don’t drink Coca Cola, not even Pepsi... noooo, they make chinotto at home! Poor them, how much naivety in this trendy no-globalism...

hugely overrated group, like many other Italians. There is a tendency (perhaps due to chauvinism?) to attribute immense "musical" value to these posers of pseudo noise as well as to others who are part of the same "intelligentsia" (CSI etc). Any comments? Well... it may be music...

...small correction: Sylvian's brother is named JANSEN, and for the record, he is one of the best drummers in the universe. Majestic, elegant, he can play loud, soft, with brushes, with sticks, practically any genre. Seen live with Sylvian, he practically simulated an entire rhythmic accompaniment on a Roland hand drum.
As for the rest, no bullshit: everyone, without exception, including Sylvian, has always given their best among themselves, of course. Solistically, each of them lacks a part of the others. It’s not a cliché, as Japan was one of the few examples of a magical conjunction of 4 elements in a single group. Dismembered, they lost a chunk of their former charm.

"When I unload in the pod and get in the smart, I get super hyped doing slaloms between the lines in the middle of the road, but I have to be careful because the car is a gift for graduation."
Graduation. Meh. This is the new generation, folks. Insane stuff.
Anyway, aside from the text message, MMS, Smart, iPod kind of guy, reviewing this record as music is as risky as wanting to judge Eva Henger as a dramatic actress worthy of the Actor's Studio.....

Unfortunately, it takes much, much less to appreciate this beautiful album (and a few others to come): listen to the grim single currently in rotation (It's now or never....sigh), then put this album in the stereo, and you will understand everything...
Francesco De Gregori Macerata 28/08/05 - Arena Sferisterio

I practically grew up with "La casa di Hilde," Buffalo Bill, Atlantide, etc. When the good Francesco composed, arranged, and sang. Yes, he sang, normally. For many years now, he has been struck by the Centocelle Bob Dylan syndrome. He has produced a series of albums that are at times irritating, so much so that one can sense the frustration in every single track. With a few masterpieces (Donna Cannone) or that excellent album produced by Corrado Rustici aside, he is increasingly a victim of the desire to distort, to not-sing: a guru who stands before people saying, "Here I am, you know the songs well enough; there's no point in me redoing Rimmel exactly as it is, I can do it however the hell I want (badly), or else it's none of my business." The impression is this: I repeat, I grew up on a diet of De Gregori, Dalla, Daniele, etc. I do not ask these artists to repeat themselves through the centuries: just a little respect for the classical foundations of music: melody, harmony, and rhythm.

There’s no denying it: the musical apotheosis of the Genesis always remains "Foxtrot". I think that Supper's Ready is the musical equivalent of an aspirin taken with Coca Cola...
