Genesis A trick of the tail
Voto:
"...flocks of specialized journalists, black as ominous birds of ill omen, announced the impending end of Genesis starting with this album..." They were (almost) right. I Said. Genesis? From the second to the fifth album (live not counted). The rest is superfluous, that is, the rest is unnecessary and IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO ASSIGN THIS DISK THE SAME RATING AS THE PREVIOUS 4. ABSOLUTELY NOT, I WILL NOT COMPROMISE. It is ABOMINABLE TO EVALUATE THIS ALBUM ALONGSIDE "THE LAMB..." OR "SELLING ENGLAND..." OR "FOXTROT" OR "NURSERY CRIME"!!! It is ABOMINABLE. One ends up generalizing the entire oeuvre of Genesis as an endless series of masterpieces, while in reality, the masterpieces are the albums from the second to the fifth. Of course, this is also a great album, no doubt about it! It’s just that putting it on the same level as the previous ones... I disagree!

Mmmm... Unreachable is still an exaggeration.

The Faust are amazing! However, I consider this album a step below the first (Faust) and the fourth (Faust IV). In my opinion, this one is on the same level as the second album "So Far". Anyway, the first 4 albums are all small masterpieces.

I would like to know who that idiot is that sends 16 (sixteen) Zappa records to someone who didn't even want them...

1. You could have at least mentioned that the "limping battery wrapped in shining synth beams" is by a certain Phil Collins... Never heard of Phil Collins? 2. You could have at least noted that the "wonderful integration of classical and electronic instruments" is always possible in Sky Saw from John Cale's viola... Do you know John Cale? 3. Perhaps a mention was also deserved by Percy Jones, the famous "fretless" bassist for having played with Brand X. And maybe a small acknowledgment was due to a certain Robert Wyatt and a certain Pete Townshend, who, beyond being credited on the album, were, according to Eno himself, very important for their "ideological and technical contribution and support" during the mixing phase, which, as you well know and as can be gathered from your writing, was the most significant part in the birth of the album. Anyway, well done, it's not easy to write about Eno without falling into clichés or repeating things that have already been said... although that phrase "between the experiments with the song form and the pioneering future works of ambient music" leaves me with several doubts of a "Guglielmi-Rizzi" origin (but I too draw extensively from information provided by the two music historians...) Well done, well done, I will follow you with interest.

Look, I have nothing against you, Rocky. You were rude, that's all. But I had also put it behind me (or so I think), I had buried the hatchet (I've been told), I had extended my hand in a gesture of peace (I sense) but you deliberately and stubbornly turned it away. I don't want to compete with you and I don't feel like playing a display of titles (just for the record, I've been graduated for almost a year...) to prove who is better between us. In fact, I'm sure the better one is you, since you will definitely have more passion and knowledge about music than I do. And yet... if you were to reread what you wrote with a clear mind, maybe—just maybe—you would understand that you weren't "truly" correct, right? But it's not your fault if that day you got up on the wrong side of the bed! And to think you keep your bed against the wall...
Peter Gabriel Peter Gabriel IV
Voto:
I was fortunate enough to pass by Gabriel just moments before his concert last year in Bologna, while he was being interviewed by a well-known local radio station (Radio Bruno). He confessed (I heard it with my own ears) that he no longer intends to record "only" stereo albums. He considers stereophonics outdated, surpassed by multichannel technology. According to him, the multichannel management of the new "dts" and "dolby digital" systems will be the new frontier to explore. He indeed plans to experiment not just with the two right-left tracks but to find a new whirlwind of emotions using all 5 (or 6, for more advanced systems) channels of today's home theater systems. That guy is truly mad as a hatter!

The pen, they tell me, is like a scepter. But how few are the kings among writers! I’ve tried it. What a pity.

Who among us listens to the brook’s anthem when the storm speaks? This review is rather ugly, that is. Improve it with comments... or, dear "drill," rewrite it with more accuracy. "I must say that mine is horrible, but it’s only my first review" shows how you’ve understood. Don’t settle for less: those who go to the fountain of life with an empty pitcher will not return with two full ones (Gibran)...
