Miles Davis Ascenseur Pour L'échafaud

Nice reference to Miles Davis in the overall mediocrity of "Collateral" (terrible film).

Anyway, I reread all the comments after several days and with a clear mind: and yes, Rocky, you were really rude. Then you can also try to use captatio benevolentiae and rhetoric to smooth out some of your malice and nastiness here and there, perhaps assigning to the phrases a meaning that is not the one made clear by your words, pulling out some convenient nuance for you. But essentially, the meaning of what you wrote (feel free to justify your words in a thousand ways, but "verba volant, scripta manent") is the result of anger towards someone who simply has different ideas from yours. You behaved like Francis, whether you like it or not. Goodbye Francis.

If you are right, I will align myself with your conclusions. But you definitely won’t make me change my mind about the total uselessness of this review (I feel a complete ataraxia while reading it) by advocating for your cause in this way. I know thousands of "Ciocero pro domo sua." Some of my students, in their ignorance, are more open to direct comparison than you, who even pretends to be the judge of your own case. You know what they taught me: NEMO IUDEX IN CAUSA SUA... Now go ahead and write that I'm a smartass jerk, I couldn't care less, I know people like you well. And I advise you not to resort to insults with people like me who have probably listened to three times the amount of music you've listened to. I don't have an issue with you, make that clear; I have an issue with what you wrote, which I find useless and absolutely misleading regarding the lyrical and dramatic intensity of this album. CHI GLADIO FERIT, GLADIO PERIT!

Ah, Vrensis, are we the living dead? Are we trying to suppress those who have courage, sensitivity, and style? Courage may be necessary to write your comments, but your style and sensitivity seem at least questionable to me. Is it style, calling yourself out by referring to dwarfs while saying that punctuation and editing of reviews don’t matter to you? Is it sensitivity to address DEBASER users by saying that, given the rampant ignorance present on these pages, punctuation couldn’t matter less? Is it style to lash out at me by claiming I’ve personally attacked you (Where? I want you to show me the comment where I personally attacked you! Onus probandi incumbit ei qui dicit, non ei qui negat, if I remember correctly that’s how the Latin goes). But don’t post a comment after your insults; I want proof that I was offensive towards you. Because I know where to draw the line (I...) and I also know that I can write everything I think about your "articles" for the sake of reporting, both positive and negative. Since (you profess it) you have a great command of language, why don’t you stick to the topic and try to counter my conclusions rather than giving me the usual "professorino," "Saccente," "Saputello," etc.? Do you know how many have done it before you? And do you know how little it affects me?

This kind of ranking based on subjective criteria can never (if not superficially) have objective validity. Even if one had the tools to do it (like Francis, my hero, the best of all), the ranking created would still be the result of his subjective beliefs, as there is no objective evaluation criterion in nature to formulate any value scale to refer to. I’m sure that those from the magazine who made this ranking are more knowledgeable than I am, but even they inevitably make subjective evaluations, which are therefore contestable in themselves. All the specialized magazines have tried to create such rankings, from Guitar Club to Axe, from GuitarHero to MetalHammer to Chitarre, etc., and you will notice how all of them are profoundly different from one another. Moreover, if we consider the temporal component (the period in which it is created), the ranking made by the SAME magazine can vary. The issue is that we should decide by convention, meaning that when everyone agrees on a point, that becomes accepted as a fact. This too is a fiction, but at least it allows us to eliminate some uncertainties. And that Steve Vai is the best of all (today) is now accepted by almost all guitarists. Whether one prefers George Lynch or Bireli Lagrange, whether one prefers Kirk Hammet or Satriani or Fripp or George Harrison, this becomes secondary once it has been established by convention who is the best.

It's true, FRANCIS: you have the "tools" to do it, you possess sensitivity and above all style... But fuck... Ah, of course you’re not even licking the "Heaven."

Alright, now I get it: I'm the idiot... how can one stoop to the level of someone who listens to Lavigne? You, Francis, you've really studied the lesson of Captatio Benevolentae, huh? One review for these guys who give me rock ratings, one for those who give alternative scores, one for brit lovers and one for pop fans... But I repeat, the fool is me: I'm not up to the task of discussing seriously with someone who can genuinely talk about this one. I have too many prejudices.
