Frusciante is the undisputed protagonist of the tracks (he probably wrote many of the songs), Anthony tries to stay in tune, but his voice is what it is and requires many adjustments to cover any inevitable inaccuracies. Flea? He gives me the impression of being tired, out of sync, dragged into a sonic mix that doesn't please him, one that he doesn't feel a part of. Flea "works," does his thing, no mistakes, sure, but no genius either. The feeling is confirmed by Chad's patterns, which consist of a few drum rolls and some nice interlock with Flea's bass, but nothing more. There’s no soul in this album, there’s not even a body. I like the two-thirds of the songs on the albums, Charlie and the one that pays tribute to the Clash. I won't deny that there are some curious and interesting moments on the album, but everything boils down to sporadic episodes. There’s no genius. I’m sure this album will leave no trace within us. It will soon be forgotten.

Yes, here it is, the album... I find it very "pop" in the etymological sense of "popular." Surely the need to make some money from sales is felt strongly, hence the necessity to create a work that embraces the diverse tastes of many people. Up to this point, nothing new, and no one should feel entitled to pity the commercial operations: everyone works to live, so let’s not play the innocent. The product is of the highest professionalism, the sound is an interesting blend of explosiveness and rock tradition (continues)

Look, I’ve read the three reviews of this album and... they all make me feel sorry. I’m writing in this one because it just happens to be the last on the reading list and not because I think it's worse than the others. On the contrary, I consider it on par with the others, exactly like the others, meaning a tuft of cabbage gone bad. Anyway, it’s on the album that I would like to focus your attention (continues)

Surfer, it's all too easy reading the comments to deduce that the person who posted wasn't really aware of JJ's music. I believe there's nothing else you can do but agree. I don't deny your Jacksonian experience (it's trendy to coin neologisms these days, isn't it?) and I'm glad you understand the bad feeling when an artist (or supposed one) that you feel particularly "yours" because you are passionate about their work and have highly praised them among your acquaintances to the point of making them love them too, that artist becomes a mediocre commodity from "top of the pop" and MTV hits. But the point is different: this album is just bad, it's lacking initiative, that verve that has characterized JJ's discography. And in my opinion, your review isn't very thrilling either, just like the album. Best regards.

I was there, as a huge JJ fan. Everything was ready: I had the right amount of alcohol and food in me, I had gone over the lyrics to sing along, stocked up on film for my camera (digital has nothing to do with JJ), CDs to get signed, front row (of course) in that dump Altrocaz (medium beer at six euros, damn...), a brief warm-up from Matt Costa, and listening to the latest, terrible album. But it was like TAKING TO BED THAT GIRL YOU'VE DREAMED OF FOR A LONG TIME, THE ONE YOU’VE BEEN CRAZY ABOUT AND, DESPITE ALL YOUR PREPARATIONS, YOU END UP WITH A DISAPPOINTING EJACULATIO PRECOX… I mean, what an embarrassment, okay. But getting her to your place finally removed that fixed idea from your head… I’d do it again. Yes, I’d go back, despite spending the night outside because there are no trains to Modena after 12:30 AM and I had to resort to homeless living in Milan until six-thirty the next morning among dogs and their owners...

Hello everyone! A few things but clear. First: the album is the worst by Jack Johnson, even thicker than water is better. Second, I was in Milan, oh yes I was, I don't miss a thing about Jèko. Third: from your comments I can tell you really don't know a damn thing about jj, I'm afraid but it is. Fourth: the album is quite bad and the review is worthy of it. Nothing to do with Brushfire, On and On, and In Between...

Last night at Alcatraz... I was there. I enjoyed it. Front row, as usual, muffled sound and Jack a bit low but great emotions... I was there. Damn, I was there.

Ha! Ha! Ha! I've got the entire discography of Vai, I have! Ha! Ha! Ha! Pling, pling pling! Woohaaa! Pling, pling, pling! Biribiribiriburuburubere! Pling! Woohaaa! SDRENGH! SDREEENGH! BLING, PLING, SDREEEEEENGH! This is what this record is! A jumble of plings, sdrenghs, and wohaas, nothing more. I saw him three times in concert, always in the same venue (Vox in Nonantola - Modena). I saw him three times, not just once. I have all his records, including productions with Zappa. I have the DVDs and all the instructional ones. So I feel safe in saying that Vai disappointed me with this record. Or maybe he just pissed me off. More likely, he disappointed me because all the passages in this album can be found in the previous ones, and he pissed me off because with all the self-references, he's become even arrogant. I give it a 1 minus minus.
