I've never been able to stand Metallica.

As for the neuroses: if the core is the metal, it can be, the vibes of the album are those... at least for me.
And stop, every time you think you've read something that doesn't satisfy you, blaming others for not knowing a damn thing... you do it on every occasion and not just with me.
Anyway, I listen to a lot of different music, I might be disorganized in my presentation, but I know these above :)

Caz, I don't need to be creative in here or prove that I know more than you or anyone else. These adolescent outbursts are a bit sad. I already have an activity that fulfills me, and it’s not prostitution. Keep playing the alpha monkey on this site, I don't need it. I've done several reviews, some serious and others not, on very different genres. But I don’t feel like taking myself too seriously. If you want to go on with the usual "who knows more" discussion about musical knowledge, go ahead. I've been listening to the stuff that comes out of Relapse for 10 years... earache, Neurot... I'm tired of making comments and references. This was an ironic review, dear caz, and I thought the ending would reveal that. Sure, the images are there, but it's far from me to take too seriously the things I write. I'm not a music critic. And I repeat, thank goodness August is over, and my work has started again... mental rest from this site, sometimes nice, sometimes very childish. With respect, E.

Rude, a buffoon and probably uneducated about this record: the fact that even bands like "defecatius intestinalis" or "Operetta Malefica" use the aforementioned sound elements in a tacky way does not remotely compare their musical production with that of the aforementioned Neurosis, who have transcended the concept of metal tout court to enter a phase where the "growl" of the guitars and the screams are just one of the constitutive elements.
The second point concerns the images that arise from listening, which, I repeat, is purely personal.
It is not necessary to know the entire discography of "metal" bands to appreciate the beauty, surely dark and violent contrary to what you claim, of Neurosis.
I am familiar with a plethora of "metal" albums that utilize the aforementioned obscure sounds, but the case of this band is truly unique and cannot be attributed to a particular "genre."
That you have teenage outbursts like “I know more than you” doesn’t interest me: I already have a fulfilling job and I don't work in my father's company.
For this reason, I don't have time, unlike in August, to stay here competing over who knows more about Buckethead's right toenails.
With respect.
E.

The imagery of Neurosi is despairing, dark, violent, and desperate, yet at the same time, it is full of humanity. Suffering is the keyword. I don’t believe much else can fit into their albums... or maybe you’ve found some New Wave influences or your beloved techno? Sorry, but I’m irritated by certain reactions; everyone projects the images they want onto music... what’s wrong for you isn’t for someone else; do you want to dictate a line of imagery that fits every listening/viewing? Anyway, peace. Also because time is short.

In my opinion, neurosis doesn't make metal.
In a "spoken" track of the album, a situation similar to that of the Vietnamese girl is narrated: the same context, the same situation.
Analogies with Dead Can Dance abound in the hieratic nature of some moments composed solely of strings, "Amber Asylum."
The beginning of the second track is announced by a celestial chant that then plunges into a sonic hell, but then again transforms into a tapestry of cymbals, congas, and truly unusual instruments for a "metal" band.
Images from World War I are a "leitmotif" of their multimedia shows; they themselves have dug into video archives (I saw them at Lemans—go check the review) for footage that was then used by an Italian theater company, the "Raffaello Sanzio" of Cesena.
Caz, you reason too much according to schemes. The review is something written in the moment, but the images are those.
I will have less and less time to respond, and it’s a sort of blessing-detox: here the rule of the anonymous regressive asylum prevails.
