Listened to with greater attention. I am a fan of their debut; I liked the wild energy of the album at times. Beyond all the fuss related to RATM and Soundgarden. Live, I noticed that things weren't working properly. Especially, good old Chris just couldn't pull out the terrifying voice he has on the record. This new work seems to be the logical consequence of what I've observed. The energy has turned into rock mannerism, Cornell's screams are now "polite" vocalizations, the ballads have ousted the truly rock tracks. A good album for the radio, good for everyone: take the first album, put it in the washing machine, overlay Cornell's remaining voice (...) and you've got this tiny little album.

Balanced review. I'm listening to the album, but I don't have a definite opinion yet. My initial feelings are of slight disappointment because it seems to me that the energy of the first album is missing, without this being compensated by melodic strokes of genius. However, listening brings insight...
