Uhm... I honestly don't appreciate much of the more modern Death; I like Divine Empire even though they don't bring a particularly original proposal, maybe because they are a branch of Malevolent Creation. Other interesting bands are definitely Dies Irae, Trauma, and Kataklysm, which although they're a bit too well-known, have really made great albums. There are also other bands, especially in Eastern Europe; as you say, there are many groups there that have something to say. Apart from that, Sweden has declined, the Netherlands still manages to produce good bands, and even the old glories like Sinister are still going strong.
